Can I just say, I don't mind. I don't expect her to name her baby based on my name at all.

My name is Alison. She has named DGD Madison. That's fine. However, she keeps saying "she's Madison after my mum" and it's quite frustrating! That's also her reply to anyone who says anything negative about it.

In that case your DD is a little bonkers I could see it if the baby was named Alice, as that's close enough to Alison to be seen as a derivative. But Madison? I guess there's an assonance but that's about it.

To be honest I think all you can do is shrug it off and enjoy your new DGD!

Oh dear, I did something like his. I really dislike my Mum's name, and so does she, so she goes by a nickname. I used a name similar to, but not the same as her nn, for DD's middle name. It was in honour of her, but maybe it doesn't come across that way
