To hate it that my mother is going to have some 'dental jewellery'?

My mother is going to have a jewel fixed on one of her front teeth. I find the whole idea hideous. She's a majistrate and holds an important position on the governing body of the ocal prison ( she got the idea from one of the prisoners btw .
I just hate the bloody things, no matter who they're on.

Being a magistrate, she can show that she's down with the street, baby.

zippitippitoes · 20/03/2007 17:29

I think that is quite funny

will look horrible but it is her mouth!

funkimummy · 20/03/2007 17:29

Oh don't worry. at least it can come off when she gets bored of it.

My loony mother has decided that at the grand old age of 50, she's going to get a tattoo!!!! A tattoo for god sake!! I won't be able to be seen out in public with her!!

zippitippitoes · 20/03/2007 17:31

wots this "grand old age" bit

thought we were getting less ageist on mn

noddyholder · 20/03/2007 17:31

I think they look awful but you have to admire her !

Why doesnt she go the whole hog and have a set of gold caps put on LOL

Tooth jewellery, piercings & tattoos dont exactly scream class but each to their own, it doesnt hurt anyone does it?

I knew a woman who had a ruby put in her tooth once - it was a lot of money and looked pretty stupid, but she liked it and I guess thats what counts.

NotanOtter · 20/03/2007 17:34

maybe she is joking

Swizzler · 20/03/2007 17:34

You can't do anything with tem

My mum was planning to wear a cowboy hat to my wedding - luckily she forgot it on the day!

funkimummy · 20/03/2007 17:41

Zippity - it's a contradiction it terms.

She is a silly wotsit though, I mean really!!! Isn't botox enough anymore?

GRUMPYGIRL · 20/03/2007 17:44

BOTOX - have to say I struggle with the whole injecting poison into your face to look permanently startled idea!

oxocube · 20/03/2007 17:45

Gross! Poor you!!

funkimummy · 20/03/2007 17:49

Grumpy,

It's all in the application of the 'poison'. Some like the startled look, but most surgeons won't do it!!

staceym11 · 20/03/2007 17:50

i think they look silly enough on teenage girls! lol!

just let her get on with it (not liek you could stop her) and hope she gets bored!

parents theyr as bad as children [grin!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 20/03/2007 17:58

I do feel a bit like our roles have reversed. I think it looks common and nasty. I actually didn't believe her when she first told me. I think she'll look like a right prat. Thing is she wouldn't have any probs telling me if she didn't like something. I want to shout at her (she who likes to think of herself as very sophisticated btw)"you'll look like a common piece of ".
She's an attention seeker anyway, that's why she's doing it

staceym11 · 20/03/2007 18:00

sounds about right.......id leave it and wait for her to get bored, the more you go off the more she'll wanna do it! lol sorry to laugh, just sounds like im talking about a teenager!

LittleSarah · 20/03/2007 18:03

My dad got himself a tattoo on his fiftieth birthday, and an eyebrow piercing! Lol. The piercing I wasn't keen on but nowt wrong with his celtic style tattoo, and it doesn't really matter what age you get one is it? They are supposed to stay with you.

Wouldn't be keen on tooth jewellry though!

GRUMPYGIRL · 20/03/2007 18:05

Ohh no its definately not sophisticated.

SherlockLGJ · 20/03/2007 18:07

I think they eventually fall out, and they damage the teeth. Google see what you can find.

Hillary · 20/03/2007 18:07

I wouldn't personally like it but its her mouth at the end of the day

Themomentsheknewshefkedup · 11/07/2025 19:01

Grillz might be more on trend 🤷‍♀️

I thought you were joking when I first read this. It seems you aren't.

You seem to have some very odd ideas about what women aged 50 are like/should be like.
