AIBU?

Anyone with an iPhone 6 had a total nightmare with charging the damn thing?

I've spent money thinking it was the charging dock or the battery.

I've spent a fortune on leads and plugs.

I went onto the Apple website to buy a genuine lead as opposed to those from the Vodafone shop or Tesco.

And I see this (pic attached).

It isn't my phone, it's batter or it's charging dock. It's the actual leads themselves.
What the fuck?

So what do I do now? My iPhone is 6 is a perfectly functioning phone, my contract is about to end which means my bills will reduce dramatically and I can't afford to upgrade. But this will leave me with no choice, that or ditch apple altogether.

Has anyone else experienced this??
What can be done?!

DH had this problem with his iPhone 6 too.
He went down the hi-tech route of poking the charging socket in the phone with an unwound paperclip and managed to dig out a plug of fluff. No problems since then. Grin

Buy a belkin cable from Amazon. Amazon will replace it if it breaks within a year or two.

two shops have 'cleaned' it. Today being the most recent.

the charger im currently unable to use any longer is indeed a belkin. I will return it, but it doesn't solve my problem in the first place.

tell a lie, this one is Gad Jet. But I've tried Belkin amongst others .

Fwiw I really recommend Belkin for Kindles. So much better than the chargers Kindles actually come with.

What are you doing to them?!

I've had iPhones for years and yeah, the leads wear out but it takes months to kill them!

I've got one from my original 4s that still works - it lives in my car so gets used at least twice a day.

what goes on them first? Are there any signs of wear before they die?

I don't have any issues? I have several types of cable and the iPhone/watch stand, as well as a small portable battery pack, and it charges just fine.

Have you had your phone checked by apple? I had an issue with charging mine and tried replacement leads etc so finally booked a genius bar appointment. It turns out there is a known battery fault with a batch made during a particular time period., They replaced my battery and I've had no issues since.

Do you have a cover on your phone?

I only ask because I do...and it stops the phone from fitting properly onto the charging dock. If I take it off it works fine.

Just a thought. It might be unrelated in your case but I thought it worth mentioning.

DH has this problem too, he has 2 iphone 6's, I tried to charge my iphone 5 with his lead yesterday, nothing happened, looked at the plug that goes in the phone and it looks corroded. No such problem with the lead used in my iphone 5.

He's just upgraded to the 7 so we shall see what happens!

For those who have no issues, how old are your iphones?

To answer a few questions, I've taken to cover off to see if that helps. Will know in a few mins if its work.

I will post a pic of my charger, its a few weeks old and in pristine condition. I do nothing to the charger, I have it next to my bed, I put my phone on charge when I get home from work and take it off charge when I go to sleep. That's it. I don't even use my phone whilst it chargers.
It isn just me who has this problem, its tons of other people - see the apple website!

I've had my phone checked by several phone companies who all say the same thing, the charging dock is in excellent nick and didn't need changing and there's nothing wrong with it. And it always chargers in their phone shop, presumably with a charger that hasn't yet broken....!

Taking the case off made no difference. Still have issues charging. Was worth a shot.
