To fear of a deliberate repeat attack on a tower block?

I know it's not good living in fear and that anything can happen at any time, but honestly, look at how quickly the building went up in flames and look at how much chaos it has caused. I don't know what the solution is, to strip all big tower blocks that have flammable cladding? This was an atrocity on a huge scale and a terrorists wet dream. It just seems so easy and obvious and I would be so scared living in a building like this. I know it's not good to feel like that and it's what the terrorists want but I'm just watching the grief and frustration in the families eyes of dead or lost relatives and I'm just so upset and sad for them. Sorry this is has turned into a bit of a ramble really.

repeat attack? When was the first one?

I am much more concerned by how incompetently this tragedy is being had led by the authorities. Remember we were on the highest terror risk level 2 weeks ago and have just seen 3 major terror attacks. Yet the politicians are unable to coordinate the people on the ground, provide rock solid communication and keep the peace.

How do you think they'd deal with an attack on this scale especially as our wonderful rescue services have had the most difficult few months.

Lame ducks.

I can think of many potential scenarios at the moment and it's scary. Yes, this thought did cross my mind. An easy target.

Coming so soon after the awful terrorist attacks in London and Manchester our concern and empathy is again fixed on a tragic loss of life.

I think one of the ideas of the terrorist attacks is to make many many of us afraid to go about our lives and take part in particular things or go to popular places.

Appalling though it would be a deliberate attack on a tower block wouldn't have lots of people asking themselves if they should let their kids go on school trips or to concerts or football matches. It wouldn't make people nervous about visiting London as tourists or working there.

I can't get the bereaved families of Grenfell Tower out of my mind or the appalling thoughts of parent and children's last moments.

I imagine it is impossible for anyone living in a similar block to feel safe in what should be the safest place, home.

We're all grieving, let's try to be kind to each other xx

I wouldn´t have thought it very likely. Most fires in tower blocks are small and easily contained. The Grenfell Tower fire is most likely to be found out to be a lot of small factors that added together that resulted in the horrific fire that it was. Those factors are not going be able to be replicated by a terrorist. Terrorists will want to choose a means of attack that is guaranteed a result. The terrorist attacks with lorries are easily replicated and pretty much guaranteed to end up in loss of life. Most fires do not kill anyone (thankfully).

It crossed my mind too op. I used to live in a tower block with a similar layout (one flight of stairs and a lift accessed from a central lobby). The building was reclad although decades ago so no idea of the material, but when I thought about it I realised it would be very easy for someone that way inclined to cause chaos and potentially huge loss of life in that building even without the cladding issue.
