...to soak my feet in the washing up bowl

Mexxi · 16/06/2017 18:04

Obviously, the washing up would not be in there at the time. I could do with a nice d -stressing foot soak, but the only bowl I own is the washing up bowl. Should I?

I have a shower after having a bath

That's commitment. I just use a towel.

BlurryFace · 16/06/2017 21:09

My mum had a huge mixing bowl that was used for soaking her feet and bathing the tortoises (salmonella risk) as well as its intended purpose. Grin

SleightOfHand · 16/06/2017 21:13

I do this and clean it afterwards.
Can't believe how fussy/prissy some people are on here. I know!
It is pink (for piggies) Grin

I would love to bathe a tortoise.

My siblings and I used to do this when we were kids.

Yogagirl123 · 16/06/2017 21:25

Seriously? Just buy another bowl.

Joolsy · 16/06/2017 21:28

I really don't see the problem. As others have said, you put your hands into the bowl to wash up and they are no doubt much dirtier than feet. Makes perfect sense to me. But some people just see feet as 'dirty' for some strange reason.

Clembarrass · 16/06/2017 21:37

I don't see the problem at all, and why on earth would you need to put bleach in it afterwards? Confused Nobody's feet are that dirty - or if they are, you have bigger problems than the sterility of your washing up bowl.

UnbornMortificado · 16/06/2017 21:51

This threads reminded me my mam used to do it every Friday night the party animal

All us DC made it to adulthood.

kittensinmydinner1 · 16/06/2017 22:01

All those 'horrified' by the idea, need to read the stuff on gut flora /ibs/obesity from Imperial College and UCL (not to mention Dr Michael Mosley)
One of the greatest threats to health these days is our lack of robust natural ability to deal with a few bugs. We are so obsessed with cleanliness it's making us ill !
You will do yourself ABSOLUTELY NO HARM to soak your feet in the washing up bowl. Wash it out afterwards. Enjoy ! Ignore these bonkers cleaning obsessives they are doing no one any favours..

Badcat666 · 16/06/2017 22:14

I'm going to take OPs lead and soak my feet in my washing up bowl tomorrow.

GhostPower · 16/06/2017 23:03

Errr yuk! Confused I don't see what's right with it. Imagine you went to someone's house for dinner and found out they soaked their feet in their dish bowl.

GhostPower · 16/06/2017 23:04

So if someone shat in your washing up bowl kitten would you still use it for your dishes?

kittensinmydinner1 · 17/06/2017 09:07

GhostPower you obviously have no understanding of bacteria or pathogen transfer. Or the typical organisms found on human feet. Your comment is ridiculous as most people have not waded through shit in bare feet before deciding to soak them in the washing up bowl ! .

However - if we take a flight of fancy and assume they have taken part in such an activity - then no, as long as the bowl had been thoroughly cleaned with hot water and anti bacterial washing up liquid - I would have no problem at all.

Obsessive cleaning and horror of exposure to a few germs is making us ill. We are building up our inability to cope with a few bugs by refusing to expose ourselves to anything but a 'bleached clean' world.

GhostPower · 17/06/2017 09:36

Clearly you did not understand the context of my comment and evidently you don't seem to have any standards.

BustopherJones · 17/06/2017 10:23

My baby has pooped in the bath a couple of times, we just cleaned it rather than buying a new one.

BusterGonad · 17/06/2017 10:25

I do this, I just wash it afterwards, if it is a worry (Confused) then give it a squirt of bleach after!

BustopherJones · 17/06/2017 10:47

I do this, I just wash it afterwards

Maybe people with 'bust' in their names are just filthy!

CasperGutman · 17/06/2017 10:48

I've soaked my feet in the washing up bowl before now. I've also washed out the children's vomit and shit-encrusted clothing in the kitchen sink (it's next to the washing machine, and above the cupboard where the Vanish lives). I washed the sink out thoroughly after all these instances, with hot water, antibacterial washing up liquid and a splash of bleach to finish. I don't see a problem with this.

megletthesecond · 17/06/2017 10:50

Eeeeew! No.

DJBaggySmalls · 17/06/2017 10:52

I own a dedicated washing up bowl. But then I'm fancy.

HibiscusIsland · 17/06/2017 10:53

Ha ha at washing up wouldn't be in it at the time. I don't use a washing up bowl but have bought some for dc to soak their feet in as they requested

wherearemymarbles · 17/06/2017 10:54

Well if you think about what your hands get up to on a daily basis .......... feet a rather begnin by comparison !

Nothing gross about it at all and i cant understand why any one would think differently!

KanyesLunchbox · 17/06/2017 10:56

I'd be more worried about good related gack getting on my feet than I would about foot back getting on my dishes. I'd still do it though.
