To ask you to donate for the victims of Grenfell Towers

Apologies for posting another thread about Grenfell Towers but I used to teach in the area and I've just heard we have lost 8 children so far, with many, many more unaccounted for. A local school is raising money for the victims via just giving and it would be wonderful if the MN mafia could get behind it.

I can personally testify that the link is genuine and every single penny will go directly to the community.

Thanks all

Thanks so much for this link OP.

Please don't apologise for posting this - every post or thread to raise awareness helps massively Flowers

I'm so sorry to hear that you had a connection to what's happened Flowers What did you teach, if you don't mind me asking? Primary, secondary?

I was just thinking about the children affected, and how it must have felt for their teachers and friends when they just didn't turn up to school the day after the fire. So so tragic. It's so sad.

The most active appeal is this one

www.dispossessedfund.org.uk

(and there are three or four other threads giving appeal links)

Thank you for this, I've been looking for the right place to donate. A work colleague of mine went down to the area Wednesday night and said that they are fine for most things but needed places for kids to chill out and watch TV etc, and medical staff and counsellors to start dealing with the trauma. The bit about the kids needing somewhere to relax and do kid stuff really brought it home to me....

MummyPigLovesAppleSauce · 16/06/2017 09:50

Thank you everyone. Its just horrific to think of the suffering the kids are going through. I taught Secondary but was the SENCo (completely outing myself here!) so had a real insight into the lives these kids live on a day to day basis... believe me, they had enough struggles to deal with before all of this happened!

SquirmOfEels - I realise there are other places to donate but I wanted to share ours as its so personal. These are our families and we just want to help.

Thank you again for those who have donated somewhere and have commented to keep the thread bumped.

Very un-MN sign off but, take care x
