AIBU?

To ask how many packets of crisps are too many?

I'm currently pregnant with my first, 14 weeks, and while the morning sickness is gone I will have food aversions. Today I decided I didn't want my sandwich so had a packet of wotsits... Which turned into three packets. Blush

Now after dinner I have just scoffed a packet of Johnny's onion ring crisps and using all my will power not to go steal DPs packet from the kitchen too.

I wasn't a crisp eater before pregnancy so just looking for jokey reassurance my baby isn't going to be born demanding crisps Grin (and a shameless way to distract myself from the crisp selection in the kitchen now that I think I've read every thread on this site...)

When my daughter was born, the midwife remarked she smelt faintly of salt and vinegar pringles.

Not really but I ate so many it was quite plausible.

I was totally addicted to salt and vinegar snack-a-jacks through two pregnancies - pretty much the only things that didn't make me feel queasy (as well as fruit, which wasn't so bad). Managed to lose weight both times Blush!

When I was 8 I ate 48 packets of salt and vinegar crisps in a day. My mum never usually bought them and had got them for my brother's birthday party. Mum was Not Happy.

You're supposed to only eat 300 more calories when pregnant anyway.

We all know that, but who actually doesn't pig out?

(If you don't/didn't, fuck off.)

ArtisanJam, weren't you sick? Or didn't you get salt poisoning?

Once when I was a student I lived off a 36 pack of walkers and a case of Carling for a week.
Good times

Wotsits were my pregnancy craving too! But be warned; they'll never taste as good again as they did during your pregnancy ☹️.

Ha ha at 48 packs in a day. Grin I thought I was bad.

I lived on salt & vinegar crisps during morning sickness!

No such thing as too many crisps.

Just finished my second packet of Quavers of the day. Sometimes I make myself eat toast first to see if that satisfies me instead Grin

Oh man, I'm 7+2 right now and all I can think about is Wotsits. But I'm trying desperately not to gain any weight yet so am making do with Ryvita. Even though Wotsits are the only food that doesn't make me feel like hurling. Waaaaah. I was really hoping this would go away, not get worse!

Can't believe posters are eating stuff like Quavers and Wotsits. I only eat the vegetable crisps from M&S. I'm extremely cautious of what I'm eating whilst pregnant.

I said Quavers and am not pregnant Smile

There's never too many whilst pregnant.

I lived on ready salted walkers for 16 weeks. Couldn't even get in the car to leave work without them.

peachgreen, you need to hide this thread. I do too. I successfully overcame my addition to Mini Cheddars - and transferred it to Wotsits. Can't have them in the house anymore.

Poor kids, furtive Wotsit-eating while they're out - or when I'm away... Grin

I'm not sure if you were hoping this thread would put you off eating so many crisps OP, but just in case you were - I ate a lot of crisps when I was first pregnant until at about 14 weeks my stomach changed its mind and I, erm, ejected a family-sized bag of those wavy beef crisps. Just the thought of repeating that was enough to put me off crisps for the rest of my pregnancy.

Totally. I switched to organic wine too. You can't be too careful IMO.

Seriously though, the crisps are fine. If they'd been in a bowl at a buffet you'd have thought nothing of quaffing that many in one sitting!

OP! I am not pregnant and you have just made me eat a bag of crisks I so didn't need to eat!

My dts were grown on Mars bars and salt and vinegar crisps. They did not require crisps at birth. All will be well.

I love crisps but they give me stomach ache and a greasy tongue for some reason these days Sad

TinklyLittleLaugh · 12/06/2017 22:32

Yeah, I had strict childhood eating rules too. I could never eat more than one packet of crisps; it would feel like utter gluttony. And when I was pregnant I dutifully cut out the crap and ate healthy stuff for my baby.

I'm far too boring and repressed for Mumsnet.

Oh yeah - monster munch! Picked onion and roast beef ones.

Aldi own version of crisps are lovely and so you can buy multi multipacks on the cheap Grin

Bloody hell, it's half past ten and I want a bag of crisps now.
I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread!

I didn't eat any crisps or sugar whilst pregnant. I really only craved vegetables. I still gained 4 stone. Not fair.
