To ask how many packets of crisps are too many?

I'm currently pregnant with my first, 14 weeks, and while the morning sickness is gone I will have food aversions. Today I decided I didn't want my sandwich so had a packet of wotsits... Which turned into three packets. Blush

Now after dinner I have just scoffed a packet of Johnny's onion ring crisps and using all my will power not to go steal DPs packet from the kitchen too.

I wasn't a crisp eater before pregnancy so just looking for jokey reassurance my baby isn't going to be born demanding crisps Grin (and a shameless way to distract myself from the crisp selection in the kitchen now that I think I've read every thread on this site...)

All bets are off when you're pregnant.

I knew I'd had too many packets of Salt and Vinegar when a layer of skin came off my tongue...

QueenMortificado · 12/06/2017 20:38

My parents would only let us have one packet of crisps a day and now, 25 years later I still stick to it

I feel really naughty if I have a second! Like my dad will come in and tell me off!

StumpyScot92 · 12/06/2017 20:42

Aw sign I would kill for salt and vinegar square crisps and they always stick to my tongue haha.

I guess this is going to be one of my pregnancy cravings. The other is banana milkshake, another thing I didn't drink much of before pregnancy if at all and now I'm washing it down daily. Could be worse I suppose! My mum craved ghost curry and whiskey with me lol

That should read goat curry... Not ghost Grin

Salt and vinegar squares are the crisps of the gods.

So are
•onion rings
•bacon frazzles
•skips and
• wotsits!

I'm not a big crisp eater tbh but when I crave them I'm just like you and want them all Grin

Usually around the time of my period so I wonder if it's to do with hormones and salt?

BuzzKillington · 12/06/2017 20:48

I would say one is more than enough.

That's a lot of salt and crap calories.

Come on! Someone needed to be sensible Grin.

NoCapes · 12/06/2017 20:52

You're pregnant, if you fancy eating your sofa cushion I say go for it

I ate a Greggs pasty every day for about 5 months of my second pregnancy

luckylucky24 · 12/06/2017 20:54

Same here Queen!

StumpyScot92 · 12/06/2017 20:54

Buzz you are living up to your name ya big meanie! Haha

If it helps I usually eat my body weight in fruit and veg Blush (with a healthy dose of chocolate of course) but for now crisps are like an absolute godsend!

Youarenotkidding we have basically the same crisp tastes haha. Maize crisps always win!

Crisps definitely hit the mark for me when I had morning sickness... and very little did... couldn't even face chocolate Shock so I am in the full ya boots camp!Wink

HorraceTheOtter · 12/06/2017 20:56

Today I have eaten 3 packets, all monster munch. I needed to try all of the flavours. I feel this is probably too many, but I don't regret it at all.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/06/2017 20:57

I ate far too many crisps when pregnant and do you know, my kids all eat too many crisps instead of craving healthy vegetables like broccoli Shock
It is clearly all my fault and if you eat healthily all through pregnancy your children will be born eating healthily too. Clearly Wink

PacificDogwod · 12/06/2017 20:58

One's not enough, a hundred is too many...

CakeNinja · 12/06/2017 20:58

I could easily eat a sharing bag of cheese balls, onion rings or indeed many types of crisps, every day.
I don't, because I'd be the size of a house (not to mention they aren't very good for you), but I don't bother with individual bags for myself. One is never enough for me!

monkeyfacegrace · 12/06/2017 20:58

Okay so I'm not pregnant but I can easily eat a 12 pack multi bag of monster munch in one sitting.

When the crisps are gone, you've had enough. Crisps aren't safe around me.

MrsJayy · 12/06/2017 20:59

Oh i thought i was going to have an orange baby i ate that much wotsits tbh i felt so sick it was all i could eat for weeks please dont stress about it.

Floridasunset · 12/06/2017 20:59

I have serious cravings for salt and vinegar crisps when pregnant and I ate/am currently eating a ton of them. If it makes you feel any better the craving didn't transfer to dc1 and at 14 months she has never eaten a crisp. I'll let you know if dc2 requires a salt and vinegar flavoured drip at birth!

YellowLawn · 12/06/2017 21:00

a family 'sharing' pack with a tub of salsa is a balanced meal.

CadnoDrwg · 12/06/2017 21:00

I do not like crisps. During my 1st pregnancy they were one of the few foods I could eat and keep down.

I didn't give birth to a crisp monster and liking crisps didn't continue after the baby was born...however cheese was a keeper (having also not liked that prior to pregnancy)

shinyredbus · 12/06/2017 21:01

i usually stop at 6 - because thats all there is in a multipack. I am a junk food addict though. Currently eating a large bag of thai sweet chilli as they are on offer for a pound at waitrose! Smile

Brittbugs80 · 12/06/2017 21:02

I live the big bags of cheese balls. But I have to open the pack then eat the next night when they're a little bit stale.

And there's no such thing as too many crisps!! Though there was when I was pregnant, ate tons of onion rings crisps then thought I was dying of a heart attack (heartburn)

usersos · 12/06/2017 21:04

I was sick throughout my whole pregnancy. I lived off crisps and only crisps for the whole 9 months......
