I agree, @JassyRadlett - and have said as much on this thread and many of the other similar ones.
Actually, I think it is extremely rude and entitled to join a busy, thriving website (or any other sort of group, frankly), which is running perfectly well the way it is, and start insisting that it changes to suit your preferences.
I'm in a chamber choir - we sing mainly classical works, with some arrangements of more popular type songs. If a new member joined, and immediately started saying they hated classical music, and wanted us to sing just barbershop, for example, no-one would entertain such nonsense, and they would be told that we are not a barbershop group, and if that's what they want to sing, they should find (or start) a barbershop choir.
Coming onto MN, and saying we should all stop swearing, is not that different, imo.
Ds1 (23) is a total petrolhead. Some years ago, he joined a website for similarly internal-combustion-engine-obsessed people - and it has always amused me that they have swear filter (like Netmums) - whilst we were allowed to use whatever sweary words we wanted!
I believe we are all adults here, and don't need prissy moderation.
