The irony- Theresa May

LovelyBath77 · 11/06/2017 06:09

It's quite ironic that the things TM accused JC of seem to be coming true for herself! Having dodgy 'friends' (DUP) and being alone and naked for Brexit for example.

Juliancopescat · 11/06/2017 09:24

Blue if that were true there would be no need to meet the DUP for talks. Those talks are happening though and horseriding will be done. It is massively disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

Orlantina · 11/06/2017 09:25

But I suppose it suits Lefties to ignore the truth and scaremonger lies

So if there is no 'deal', why are there negotiations?

Surely if the Conservatives can rely on the DUP, why don't they just carry on knowing that the DUP will support them?

Why are they talking to the DUP?

Juliancopescat · 11/06/2017 09:25

Horse riding? Horse trading Grin

Orlantina · 11/06/2017 09:27

It's going to be quite funny when the EU leaders meet her again....

I shouldn't laugh as it's my country as well but she has massively fucked up.

Guitargirl · 11/06/2017 09:28

Some of Theresa May's choicer moments of arrogance have been running through my head over the last few days like a film reel. Her sneering and mockery of Jeremy Corbyn during PMQs, her patronising comments to the nurse on Question Time. I hope she is forced to read the front page of every single British newspaper this weekend.

Orlantina · 11/06/2017 09:31

Her sneering and mockery of Jeremy Corbyn during PMQs

Hubris..(a word I learnt this week)

I've watched PMQs and she has been awful to Corbyn. I don't think Corbyn is the kind of person to rub it in to her at PMQs but he knows and she knows....

histinyhandsarefrozen · 11/06/2017 09:36

Genuine question: why do you think all people who think May is a chump are lefties?

Plenty of centrist and Tory 'sympathisers' think she's a complete chump too, you must know that, right?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/06/2017 09:44

Fallon just said on Marr that the discussions with the DUP are hugely complex. Perhaps he should read this thread where he would find according to some that its no big deal.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 11/06/2017 09:44

I actually cannot wait until the next PMQsGrin

Does anyone know when it is?

makeourfuture · 11/06/2017 09:46

If there is no deal, is the current regime legitimate?

user98765432101 · 11/06/2017 09:48

Now she's leading it, for as long as her party lets her stay. Perhaps they're not sacking her yet because no-one else wants the poisoned chalice.
I think they see it as she's made the noose and they will wait for her to hang herself with it. No one wants to take over this mess so will wait till the time is right for another general election then oust her.
TM will be gone by October. And she will be in the history books for being the most foolish PM

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/06/2017 09:51

make, when she gives her Queens speech on the 19th, if she doesn't get enough votes for it, there will be no government. Then Corbyn can give his is my understanding. If he doesn't get enough votes I think it means that we go straight into another GE

GraceGrape · 11/06/2017 09:51

TM will be gone by October. And she will be in the history books for being the most foolish PM

To be fair, I think she might be there alongside David Cameron.

NannyOggsKnickers · 11/06/2017 09:56

There is no 'deal' as such- yet. What TM wants is the DUP to sign up to vote with her government on a 'confidence and supply' basis. This means that they can extract a list of concessions in the initial talks and then on a vote by vote basis. Essentially, the DUP have TM over a barrel as she can't hope to win any parliamentary votes without them.
You could say that they are now the ones holding the reins of power.

LovelyBath77 · 11/06/2017 09:57

It's also all the talk of being strong and stable, getting on with the job, haha, when they (Tories) caused it all in the first place!- they are the cause of the chaos, instability and not 'getting on with the job' by calling the election on the first place! It's like some kind of weird delusion.

I'm the OP and not a leftie, in particular.

NannyOggsKnickers · 11/06/2017 09:59

I'd also like to point out that this whole thing is total embarrassment. There was an option of forming a government from both Con and Labour and creating the kind of government we had in WW 2. Brexit represents a time of national crisis and they should all pull together to make the best of it.

User843022 · 11/06/2017 09:59

'The thing is, it's not a coalition. Therefore I'm not expecting any 'free passes' to be given to the DUP (which I'm pleased about). The DUP have in the past voted generally in line with the Tories, so all I really see is a slightly weaker position for the government than before'

This ^. She took a gamble based on the derision surrounding Corbyn. Who knew he would have a successful campaign and people would believe all his fairytales.

Her gamble failed, she will either stand down or there will be another election soon. All the 'ner ner ner ner ners!!' are unnecessary, she cocked up and using the dup to boost numbers will not mean anyone will be promoting homophobia anytime soon.

LovelyBath77 · 11/06/2017 10:00

Remember the mad laughing she used to do at Corbyn? with the head back..

This has got to be one of the biggest political fuck ups in history! When she announced the snap election I thought she'd struck a blinder and it seemed Corbyn getting anywhere near here in votes was nigh on impossible. And yet now here she is, won the election, yes, but didn't get the result she wanted.

As someone generally anti-Tory but pro Brexit and liking my local (Labour) MP who was anti Brexit and pro Corbyn (who I dislike) this election was really difficult for me so in the end didn't vote. I would have preferred them to get more votes in terms of Brexit but am pleased that they can't push through other planned stuff without much protest.

HappyFlappy · 11/06/2017 10:17

Or we could get on with a party with no majority who should really reach out to Labour and the Lib Dems and everyone should come together and work together?

We can but dream Orlantina. Of course, this would involve politicians putting aside their self-interest and doing the job they are paid for - serving the country.

Not much chance of that with the Tories.

metalmum15 · 11/06/2017 10:43

I think the whole of politics has been a fuck up for the last couple of years. And sorry, but if there's another general election, that's just ridiculous. People turned out and voted, then they have to go and do it again 4 months later? Will they vote any differently? It seems like any time a Prime Minister isn't happy they think, I know, let's get the public voting on something.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 11/06/2017 10:49

Corbyn visited a wreath laying ceremony for a Munich massacre terrorist, wanted Hamas removed from the UK's list of designated terror organizations, called Hamas and Hezbollah representatives his friends, he attacked Obama for helping fund Israel's Iron Dome missile defence system (Which saves thousands of lives), he spoke at over 70 pro IRA events during the height of the bombings, and people actually involved in the nitty gritty details of the Troubles and peace process said that Corbyn wanted more violence not peace. Corbynistas and naive people can try to rewrite history all they want but Corbyn's record is clear as day.

^^ anyone want to pick the bones out of that with facts?

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 11/06/2017 10:52

Ah the old schrodingers corbyn again..a woolly pacifist who refuses to say he would use weapons but who at the same time wants more terrorist violence.

christinarossetti · 11/06/2017 11:00

There was a time that only the Daily Mail could subscribe to a narrative about how a member of CND who opposed military intervention in other countries can also support terrorism.

It's a bit like the 'austerity is necessary' narrative. Complete fiction but a handy place for people to hang their ignorance.
