The irony- Theresa May

It's quite ironic that the things TM accused JC of seem to be coming true for herself! Having dodgy 'friends' (DUP) and being alone and naked for Brexit for example.

Just to remind people of PMQs and her last appearance...

The right hon. Gentleman is right: in something over six weeks we will be back at these Dispatch Boxes. The only question is: where will we be standing? Who will be Prime Minister of this great country? He says that the choice is clear, and it is.

Every vote for him is a vote for a chaotic Brexit; every vote for me is a vote to strengthen our hand in negotiating the best deal for Britain. Every vote for him is a vote to weaken our economy; every vote for me is a vote for a strong economy with the benefits felt by everyone across the country.

Every vote for him is a vote for a coalition of chaos, a weak leader propped up by the Liberal Democrats and the Scottish nationalists; every vote for me is a vote for strong and stable leadership in the national interest, building a stronger and more secure future for this country.

Grin -yes, ironic

And yet and yet Labour did not won and the Tories won better than anyone. So here we are - the people spoke and they rejected Labour fair and square. Now we just have to get on with it.

makeourfuture · 11/06/2017 07:57

Nobody voted for this DUP Coalition.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 11/06/2017 07:57

Ok..some desperate face saving going on. Not surprised after your pre election posts.

SinglePringle · 11/06/2017 07:58

But here's the thing 7461, we don't have to 'just get on with it'. We're a democracy and if we make enough noise, Government has to listen. Their job is to represent us; if we feel they're not doing that, we can demand an election (via the national 'mood'). We can change this.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 11/06/2017 07:59

There's likely to be another election very soon.

Orlantina · 11/06/2017 08:01

Now we just have to get on with it

Bless. Google 1974 February election and the hung Parliament.

Or we could get on with a party with no majority who should really reach out to Labour and the Lib Dems and everyone should come together and work together?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/06/2017 08:05

Get on with what? We don't have the foggiest as to how this is going to pan out yet.

A week before Brexit negotiations. This is ridiculous.

NameChanger22 · 11/06/2017 08:07

I would just like to ask Tory voters if they think their government looks strong and stable or more like a coalition of chaos?

makeourfuture · 11/06/2017 08:09

A week before Brexit negotiations. This is ridiculous.

Absolutely.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/06/2017 08:11

Nobody voted for this DUP Coalition.

What a ridiculous thing to say.
No one votes for a coalition, unles there is an alliance of parties prior to the election

Paddybare · 11/06/2017 08:11

The thing is, it's not a coalition. Therefore I'm not expecting any 'free passes' to be given to the DUP (which I'm pleased about).

The DUP have in the past voted generally in line with the Tories, so all I really see is a slightly weaker position for the government than before (which, as a remainer, I'm trying to take as a positive) but still one which sees more than all the other parties combined.

I'm no hard Tory voter by any means but we have to at least try to see his objectively without all the froth. In truth, not a lot has changed.

NameChanger22 · 11/06/2017 08:12

Hardly anyone in the UK would have wanted the DUP to have any power here. Nobody voted for them.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 11/06/2017 08:12

A lot might have changed for NI negotiations though.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/06/2017 08:13

I think needs several minds to work out how we get ourselves out of this mess. I would be happy for all of the major parties with representation to work together. I believe we have had coalitions in the very distant past - pre 1974 where the parties have worked together. We are in crisis now and it is time for the parties to come together, forget about who won and who lost, give all the parties a role sans TM of course (who as a narcissist is an all or nothing thinker). Lets learn use the lessons from wartime cooperation.

NameChanger22 · 11/06/2017 08:13

Call it what you want, it is a coalition.

makeourfuture · 11/06/2017 08:14

Transparency then.

What are they saying?

What are they promising?

What are they planning?

NOBODY Voted on the DUP/Tory coalition.

makeourfuture · 11/06/2017 08:14

Awful beliefs.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/06/2017 08:15

Having said that, I would be very happy for all the parties to work together, this is what we need now.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/06/2017 08:16

Make, do you ever engage with other posters?

Do you ever read other posts?

vichill · 11/06/2017 08:18

This is the perfect place to be in a week before negotiations. By clipping her wings, the EU now know the British public isn't the manic racist mob her actions and stance portrayed. All that was ever going to be achieved in that 2 years was an bodged interim arrangement. The tone of negs will be less combative and spiteful now and that can only be a good thing.

makeourfuture · 11/06/2017 08:19

Make, do you ever engage with other posters?

I would love to talk to anyone who voted for the DUP/Tory coalition.

But there is nobody.

Paddybare · 11/06/2017 08:19

Happy to be persuaded otherwise but I really can't see how this is a coalition.

The DUP have traditionally voted along Tory party lines because politically they are fairy well aligned. This won't change.

The Tories are only just short of an overall majority, they will be using the DUP support to help them over the line on key issues.

There is no need for concessions to be given to the DUP in return for this support as it's there anyway. If the DUP begins to blackmail however, then we have an issue.

DonaldStott · 11/06/2017 08:20

If you have to jump on the usual band wagon of slagging off the Daily Mail, please do so using facts and not made up stories.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Funniest thing I've read on mn in a while. Forget TM's irony. This is the most ironic thing about this thread.

Give me a good laugh though.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 11/06/2017 08:21

They have to formalise the support or they won't have a government
