A friend's ex has done the most awful thing to her. He's jeopardising her career and his actions have caused her a lot of embarrassment in her workplace. She's a very private person and what he's done has had big implications, to the extent that even the company MD (it's a very large company) knows.
It's 100% vexatious but he's technically not done anything illegal.

I don't know the guy personally. I do know his e-mail address, his name, where he works, and home address.

I'd love to send him a glitter bomb but don't think that's wise.

So, to tide me over while I sit on my hands and prevent myself from signing him up to every type of spam I can imagine, can you tell me decent stories of petty payback?

Ghetto I'm loving yours, and I have a mental picture of you!

Mine is boring in comparison but it is legal.

Someone who I'd known for years as she used to do some work for me. I considered her a friendly acquaintance and paid over the odds for what she did for me.

She managed to steal from me in a very devious way but she denied denied denied. I think she thought I would leave it because finding evidence was really tricky. I made it my life's work to find that evidence and took legal action against her. I would've spent whatever it took because what she did was appalling, the betrayal was enormous. I got all the money back without my costs unfortunately but my god was it worth it. I'm an easygoing character until someone takes advantage of me then you unleash hell and fury.

I collected my dogs shit and may or may not have wiped it on someone's car door and front door handle....

Ive told this one before, when I was nursing we had a doc who thought it was 'funny' to steal lunches from the staff room.

We were short staffed at the time (and they still are) and it would have been irresponsible for Nurses to leave the ward to go to the canteen, so he was leaving people to do 13+ hour shifts with no food.

We complained to management/HR and got no where.

DP is Anglo-Indian, MIL makes 'mild' food for me, friends think I have a steel coated mouth, that's her version of mild.

So I tasked her with making her hottest food ever, even DP sweated a lot when he tasted it. The best bit, it was a slow burner, you'd be 4-5 mouthfuls in before the burn hit.

He also had a thing about winding me up so targeted my food.

You can see what's coming. 😀😀😀😀

After that everyone labelled their food with my name.

I did also once help my bitch of a boss to put on weigh for her wedding. She was tying to slim down into her dress. It was all she went on about.

So I started putting 2 sugars in her tea (and mine as I knew she'd smell a rat). She complained it tasted sweet but I brushed it off saying it was probably a new brand of tea.

Also when I went to get her lunch for her (something I did regularly for the team - they'd give me money and I'd run out as I was the junior then). I made sure that her demands for low fat mayo no butter low fat cheeses weren't met. once went as far as switching out a Diet Coke for a full fat one.

spinassienne · 11/06/2017 12:23

Swhen my ex left my sister and I had a satisfying evening switching every cd on the shelf one case to the left. A couple of hundred of them.

AmberStClare · 11/06/2017 12:26

Movingonup, when you have been reduced to tears on numerous occasions along with others by someone who is a workplace bully believe me there is pleasure in seeing them cry.

When someone has been using the interent for their own private and slightly dodgy purposes for months and gets their comuppence it is very fair justice.

happinessbythekilowatt · 11/06/2017 12:26

'you left your DVDs at mine Jason you old perv!'

This really cracked me up Grin

We worked with an arse, an idle arse, who believed he was God's gift. He was always mooching around when a particular secretary from another department had to work with our team. So when she came for a cake and cuppa afternoon to wish someone well as they went on maternity leave we took our revenge.
Just before people started to arrive, our quietest, more innocent looking, unassuming colleague offered him one of her 'blueberry sweets'. Greedy as ever he helped himself to two and ate them.
He then spent the afternoon flirting and generally being an arse, for the rest of us to see right blue teeth and tongue every time he opened his mouth.
Joke shop sweets around 50p .... group satisfaction priceless!!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 11/06/2017 12:30

I've had an awful bullying boss Amber who drove me to a breakdown. I wouldn't enjoy her getting abusive messages. For a start the punishment should always fit the crime imo. Her awfulness has bitten her on the arse with a stalled career and no friends.

I don't like bullying abusive bosses and I don't like women getting sexually harrassed.

CheeseQueen · 11/06/2017 12:33

Yeah, laughing at someone receiving the equivalent of sexual threats is not okay

Yeah, this. Take a long hard look at yourself if you derive pleasure from someone receiving threats and understandably crying about it.
Sick.

AmberStClare · 11/06/2017 12:35

Movingonup i agree, she was sexually harassing both male and female colleagues so the punishment did fit the crime.

lazycrazyhazy · 11/06/2017 14:01

I believe in Karma and waiting for what goes around to come around.

Many years ago a woman I know reported my DD to the bar manager AND her head teacher as she had seen her in a pub on a bank holiday lunch time aged 17. She was with her 19 year old brother but was asked to leave (they hadn't even bought a drink) it was all humiliating for her and I had a call from the head on Tuesday. She was very understanding and nothing came of it. DD was very pissed off though as this person's own DD was picked up by the police in the gutter and taken home drunk the same day. She was quite snide to DD about it at school too.

Many years later my DH received a job application from the daughter. He declined to interview her. The agency asked if there was a reason and he said there was but nothing he wished to share.

Petty but what goes around indeed comes around.

How are they sexual threats? Confused

The woman received messages from people who they thought they were responding to a genuine message 'looking for sex'. To twist this into 'threats' is a complete over-exaggeration.

If I received those messages at work, I would report them to the IT department and ask them to be blocked. Don't think I would cry, especially as I would have proof that I haven't emailed the kink websites from my work email or accessed kink websites from my work computer.

WellThatSucks · 11/06/2017 16:04

Not me though I knew and did nothing to stop it but a coworker who bided his time and waited until she was off one day then anointed every drawer handle, the keyboard and deskphone of an arsey Office Manager who pissed off all of us with her nitpickery with a thin film of machine oil. He replaced all her pens and highlighters with dried-out ones and her post-it cube with one he'd rubber-stamped a middle finger onto every page under the top one (took him ages), he stapled the papers in her intray together in random bunches and mixed up all the hanging folders in one of her filing drawers swapping over all the colour coded tabs so the folder contents did not match the tabs. Petty but satisfying to watch her fume and chunter when every little thing came to light as the day went on and everyone claimed to have seen nothing.

ffsnotthisagain · 11/06/2017 16:04

A colleague who is very lazy, selfish and annoying was faffing around looking for a PowerPoint deck that had originally been sent via email. He really needed it for a presentation. He asked me for my copy and I told him I deleted the email once I was finished with it.
The whole time I had it printed out on my desk. I watched him sweat for well over an hour... said nothing. Loved every minute!

DawnOfTheMombie · 11/06/2017 16:10

DSis1 used to scare me by putting her pot dolls in my bedroom whilst I was asleep. One particular time (and the last) time she did this, I threw the two in my bedroom out of my window (loft bedroom) then marched into her room and threw the rest out of her window (also loft room)

DSis2 permanent marker penned all of her Westlife posters after she drew on my face in my sleep.

DTwins - cut the hair off their Bratz dolls after the smeared my Mac lipstick all over my bedroom wall.

happypoobum · 11/06/2017 16:14

What's a pot doll?

WellThatSucks · 11/06/2017 16:15

Chloe Sure to those sending the messages they're not threats but to the person who received these messages having not signed up for them they would come across as threats, how can you not see that? It's a bloody sick thing to do. There was a case here of a man who did something similar to an ex, posted posing as her on one of those twisted websites that her fantasy was to be surprised and raped by an intruder, gave her address and said they should just turn up and ignore her 'protests'. Someone took the ad at its word and turned up, raped her at knifepoint...Yeah, so not fucking funny.

Iflyaway · 11/06/2017 17:41

Well

That is chilling. I remember vaguely reading about that kind of stuff.....

Some of these are really sick. Thank fuck I have none of you in my life.

I prefer taking the high road and quit my job than stoop so low as to get onto their level.
Karma will take care of it.

The one where the woman is chucked out of the Luxury Apartment who gets a gang of girlfriends in is really nasty.
