I'm saturated. So here's a lighthearted thread.
What food takes you right back to being a kid?
Mine might be salad cream sandwiches on cheap white bread! Yum.

Sugar butties ( no wonder I have so many filling) and if flush condensed milk butties. Corned beef hash on day before pay day and chippy meal on payday. Ice cream soda with the pop coming from the pop man.

Gingernut biscuits and weak orange squash on the beach. Aussie childhood staple

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 08/06/2017 10:20

Pink wafers- my Nan and grandad would always sneak me extra when my mum wasn't looking.

AllMyFriendsAreHeathens · 08/06/2017 10:55

Ritz crackers spread with primula cheese and topped with a pickled onion. Classy addition to the buffet for every family gathering I can remember.

My Granda's scones.

Meanies pickled onion flavour 5p crisps

Egg in a cup with toast from a plain loaf

Stovies (my Gran made hers with minced beef)

Lemon puff biscuits yuk!!! But my (late) parents made real lemonade and ginger beer, was lovelly, cannot stand any of the shop stuff now way too sweet.

Shloooooob · 08/06/2017 11:58

Sunday dinner with a healthy serving of rice.
Instantly takes me back to childhood. I miss it.

Boulshired · 08/06/2017 12:11

As a kids i must of run about a lot with the amount of sugar consumed, even with a healthy orange my mum would dip in sugar. A banana sandwiched into two slices of bread and again a generous spoon of sugar. And apples dipped in syrup.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/06/2017 12:21

Oranges dipped in sugar! Sugar and banana sandwiches!! Just reading that would send nutritionists today into catatonic shock at the thought of all the added sugar! Grin

And thanks to @Keepthebloodynoisedown I have added pink wafers to this weekend's shopping list. And they will be MINE - all MINE!!!

waitforitfdear · 08/06/2017 12:27

Who else has a mouth full of old black fillings from childhood? Grin

My mum use daily to dip my dummy in sugar can you believe it?

Sunshinegirls · 08/06/2017 12:54

Haha! Yes, my mouth is full of fillings but my head is full of happy food memories! Can you imagine a similar thread in 30 years from now?

Carrot sticks and hummus
Rice cakes
Falafel

Does anyone remember the apple flavoured Ninja Turtle pizzas.

Yuck, makes me think of childhood though.

Boulshired · 08/06/2017 13:02

Even sugary milky tea in a bottle, I must of been about four. The introduction of the fridge freezer and findus crispy pancakes and packs of 10 space invader pizza.

Boulshired · 08/06/2017 13:04

I have all my black fillings replaced with white ones though. Unfortunately they are probably whiter than my teeth.

twofloorsup · 08/06/2017 14:07

My mum was very anti sugar when I was growing up.
All it did was make me want it more !
