And if you are and still intend to vote, what will make up your mind in the next 24 hours?

Laiste · 07/06/2017 09:25

Me!

Don't want to vote tory. Wont.

Labour seems a mess.

Not a lot of point in voting for anyone else. Especially round here (staunch tory rural area)

Goodness knows what i'll do. I want to vote!

cjt110 · 07/06/2017 09:28

Laiste what do you imagine would make your mind up on who to vote for?

-PS. Not being a goady fucker - I am genuinely interested how people make up their minds if they haven't already

I am a wee bit stuck

Not voting tory

My original plan was to vote lib dem as i dont hate all their policies...just some of them

Labour are the only ones able to roust the tories so i shoukd really vote for them

However i still think lib dem (at least til i get in the polling booth) as i think you should vote for what you believe

To be fair although labour will be second in this area, i cant see hiw they could catch in any way

Tories usually get 20k and the second place 10k

Laiste · 07/06/2017 09:36

No probs. I've been reading all the political threads on here and listening to the news ect. (hoping to feel better about voting Labour to be brutally honest, as i find JC a bit ... well, he doesn't inspire confidence) I don't have a lot of time to research. As most people, i guess, i try to make my own mind up without being swayed by obviously biased opinion. But that's hard. Busy day to day life ect.

So, if i had to choose ONE concern for you, i guess if someone could tell me DA wouldn't continue as home sec i'd be happier voting Lab.

DesignedForLife · 07/06/2017 09:38

I'd like to vote Lib Dem, but where I live they trail right behind and Tories look to make big gains and topple what has been a Labour stronghold. I like our current Labour MP, but pains me to vote Labour after some of the junk they've put through my door this week.

RyanStartedTheFire · 07/06/2017 09:39

Me.
I'm hoping it'll come to me in the voting box.

DesignedForLife · 07/06/2017 09:39

And I really don't like May.

Laiste · 07/06/2017 09:39

Ah, breaking news Independant - replaced by Lyn Brown. My wish came true. Thanks cjt Grin

RangeTesKopeks · 07/06/2017 09:39

Oh gosh - me!!

I would prefer to vote Lib Dem, as I agree with a lot of their policies, and a soft Brexit is really important to me.

However, I've read that I'll need to vote Labour in my constituency to stop the Conservatives from winning. (I don't want the Conservatives to win). And I have actually been impressed with how Jeremy Corbyn has performed in recent debates and on the campaign trail for this election.

Still very unsure though.

Could anyone help?

iffikitty · 07/06/2017 09:40

I wanted to get our LibDem MP back, he lost to the Conservatives last time. BUT I cannot stand Tim Farron, and I don't want to see him on the tv, droning on. I also cannot cannot vote for a party that has Diane Abbott in it, even though she's "unwell" at present, she would be "well" again if elected .

I'm buggered.

SentientCushion · 07/06/2017 09:40

Not voting labour because you don't like the idea of DA as Home Secretary is like not buying a house because you don't like the curtains, there'll be a cabinet reshuffle like there always is.
Dan Jarvis maybe?

TrollMummy · 07/06/2017 09:41

Was leaning towards Labour until Diane Abbot reminded me why this was not a good idea.

I hate what the Tories are doing to schools, NHS and public services. I hate how they lied throughout the Brexit campaign both scaremongering and making false promises. They can't be trusted.

Don't like the Lib Dems.

So I'm stuck.

Cherrypi · 07/06/2017 09:42

I'm undecided. Tory safe seat. Was going to vote lib dems as Brexit protest vote. Labour came second last time but by thousands. Like some of the green policies.

RangeTesKopeks · 07/06/2017 09:42

The idea of seeing Diane Abbott as Home Secretary is also putting me off voting Labour.

RangeTesKopeks · 07/06/2017 09:43

Sentient or how about Keir Starmer? Or Chuka Umunna?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 07/06/2017 09:43

Ah, breaking news Independant - replaced by Lyn Brown. My wish came true

For the period of her illness. It isn't permanent.

Laiste · 07/06/2017 09:43

SentientCushion - hope you're right. Seems wrong to be voting for a party with your fingers crossed there'll be a big reshuffle though. That's probably what i'll be doing on Fri though.

SentientCushion · 07/06/2017 09:44

www.bbc.com/news/av/election-2017-40184379/diane-abbott-taking-break-from-campaign

Looks like she's been shuffled out of the play anyway

Dawndonnaagain · 07/06/2017 09:47

Do what you want to do, but bear in mind if considering tactical voting, large majorities have been overturned before. In 1997 everyone remembers the 17% swing to Labour in Michael Portillo's Enfield ward. But in the same election, Malcolm Rifkind, Edwina Currie, Norman Lamont, David Mellor all lost their seats too. All big hitting tories at the time.
The lib dems are quietly stating that they're having a great deal of doorstep success in Maidenhead...
I dare say the same has happened the other way round.

Laiste · 07/06/2017 09:48

As piglet says - may not be permanent. Bit late in the day if it's tactical. The day before election day? She's been a liability for ages.

But this is a good thread OP. Shame to turn it into just another DA debate. (even though it was me who bought it up first!)

Carollocking · 07/06/2017 09:50

Also don't want any of the candidates on offer there should be a box for Non of the above on the form

cjt110 · 07/06/2017 09:50

Laiste You're welcome

How do I find out if my seat is strong or not? Just numbers based on last local elections?

OP posts:
user1480459555 · 07/06/2017 09:50

I will definitely vote because I believe it is important to but no idea who to vote for.

I honestly do not want to vote for any of the parties because they all lie about what they will do when in power.

I am definitely not voting Tory. Was thinking about Lib Dems but, honestly, that is just a wasted vote so should I vote Labour?

I am also thinking of spoiling the paper as a protest vote that none of them are worth voting for but my OH thinks that is pathetic and a waste of time.

cjt110 · 07/06/2017 09:53

Non of the above on the form This sounds good but I wonder what would it mean in reality - lets say a whole constituency voted that way? or FPTP would mean second place would win?

OP posts:
Dawndonnaagain · 07/06/2017 09:54

The idea of seeing Diane Abbott as Home Secretary is also putting me off voting Labour.
She won't be. See the news.
