Gardeners for neighbour in our garden!

Just found out gardeners have somehow come into our garden to do some work from our side. Must have jumped over the fence as the gate is padlocked. AIBU to be annoyed? Usually have a good relationship.

Bit rude. What are they doing?

P1nkP0ppy · 06/06/2017 13:20

Bloody cheek! I wouldn't be at all impressed.

ScarlettFreestone · 06/06/2017 13:21

I'm presuming that they crossed the fence into your side to trim a hedge?

It's polite to ask first.

Creampastry · 06/06/2017 13:32

They have been working on a bit of fencing and trees and my side will look a bit crap in winter due to what they have done. I will have to pop back one day and speak to them. They aren't there today. Tossers. Why the fuck do people do this? Naturally in the grand scheme of things this is pathetic but still...

Did they just walk through when the fence was taken out?

ScarlettFreestone · 06/06/2017 13:37

Well if it's their fence they can do what they like. I'm not sure that the rules on trimming the tree on your side is but certainly it's up to them if the cut it down entirely.

It is normal to mention this kind of stuff to neighbours though.

Can you plant a tree on your side to fill the gap for the future?

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2017 13:45

It's quite difficult to do fencing without going both sides.

Ifailed · 06/06/2017 13:49

I wonder if it's the gardeners fault, or the neighbour, they may well be under the impression that is was OK to go onto your land?

bellabasset · 06/06/2017 14:04

How did you find out the gardeners have come over, ie had they damaged the fence?

I have access through my neighbours gardens, old cottages, and neighbour's gardener can access my garden to clear rubbish and I get him to cut my hedges. The difficulty is you often find gardeners come as conditions suit. Speak to your neighbours who are responsible for their contractors and agree what is reasonable.

How can working on fencing make trees look crap - unless it's 20 foot high fencing.

AHobbyaweek · 06/06/2017 22:57

There wasn't anything in the OP to say they were working on fencesConfused

GloriaV · 07/06/2017 05:08

They have been working on a bit of fencing and trees and my side
OPs second post said this.
