Am I wrong to be put off by gym staff (trainers) smoking?

Members of the gym staff at my local council gym are regularly to be seen standing outside the fire doors, smoking, and also wandering around town with a cigarette in hand. They are easily recognisable as they wear bright pink t-shirts Grin

I'm not judging them - they have every right to smoke if they want to. God knows I have some bad habits Blush But am I wrong to feel a bit.....I don't know,...put off by this? Given that these are the people who would actually be training gym members and dispensing health advice? I wouldn't necessarily feel the same if I saw them necking a big pie and chips or a Greggs sausage roll - so am I wrong?

Just wondered what people thought about this. It's not a huge niggle, and am prepared to be told to mind my own business Grin

Doctors and nurses smoke too. Doesn't mean the advice they're giving is any less legitimate?

Smoking is a well known diet aid if they are smoking they are not eating pies Grin you are right though not a great advert for the gym is it

I'm surprised the council let them - ours banned any smoking while at work years ago.
It wouldn't put me off though, maybe they are trying to give up, know they should etc.

Saucery - yes, maybe they are. Like I'm trying to give up biscuits Sad so like I said, I'm not judging. I'm sure they know what they're doing with the training and all and no, doesn't make their advice any less legitimate.

It does surprise me that the council don't at least tell them to take it away from the premises - or at least cover up their very obvious advertising for the gym!

I guess if I could smoke I may lose a few pounds....not sure it would be that great for my asthma though.
