To lose perspective so easily?

After each of the recent atrocities, I've suddenly become very aware of the fragileness of life and thought, wow, I'm never going to take life for granted again or sweat the small stuff, I'm going to cherish my loved ones and remember what's really important.

And then what do you know, the next day I'm worrying because the house is messy, or a fridge can only be delivered during working hours, or I've let £4 worth of chicken go off.

Does anybody manage to really retain the perspective we gain from these events?

It's normal to become preoccupied with the everyday issues. We humans are simple beings

I think that gaining a different perspective from life-changing events can't be reduced to "I won't be irritated by the toilet seat being up". It's about how it changes the overall way you live your life and that doesn't change overnight.
