Listening to TM outside Downing Street vs JC - I think she may have just won the election - saying what people wnat to hear and hopefully some of what she says needs to be done will be followed through with.

BIL even picked up on something this morning. He is a big C Conservative (though wavered with UKIP a while ago...) and he was sitting listening to the news and it came on with May saying we have been too soft on terrorists and such. And he had a lightbulb moment which is odd...he asked why she is bitching about being soft on terrorism when its her party that have been in for years now and she could easily have 'got tough' before now and she has no right to moan on about us apparently being too tolerant. That basically, our 'tolerance' of extremism is her fault to start with.

I was a bit Shock

I took this rare opportunity to inform him about police cuts and cuts to the NHS, pay freezes to police/NHS staff and so on.

He will still vote Tory. But his eyes are opening now.

BeyondThePage · 05/06/2017 14:19

No deal is simply not an option

that may be the case BUT YOU DO NOT TELL THEM THAT IN ADVANCE. He has NO idea about negotiation.

She (May) has said - decent deal or we just walk.

He (Corbyn) has said erm... if we don't get a good deal, then we will have to hang around til we work something out.

He has NO idea about negotiation.

May has no idea about what constitutes useful negotiation skills. She seems to be under the illusion that proudly proclaiming 'I can be a bloody difficult woman' is somehow supposed to be a useful introduction. It's embarrassing.

citroenpresse · 05/06/2017 14:23

The Tory website is just like that Rufus...dominated by pictures of Corbyn. 'Theresa May's 12 step Brexit 'plan' is just a joke. Number 1 'Certainty and clarity'. How is that a 'plan' and in any case, how can it be taken seriously when the same party refused to produce a costed manifesto. Clarity? Seriously?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 05/06/2017 14:28

I know its just weird isnt it

Doesnt work anywhere else does it

Patient - i cant believe the wait for a doctors appointment

Doctor- yes well dentists are worse and have you seen their prices

DJBaggySmalls · 05/06/2017 14:31

Who wouldn't want to pay £10,000 a year just for dental fees? Screw the NHS, lets do it Trumps way.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 05/06/2017 14:34

I would expect a lot more than a scale and a polish for that price Shock

citroenpresse · 05/06/2017 14:36

BUT YOU DO NOT TELL THEM THAT IN ADVANCE What on earth is this?! This concept of Brexit negotiations is just infantile. .

makeourfuture · 05/06/2017 14:44

Why no plan? Just anything really.

It is so important

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 14:51

I just have this image of the EU laughing as TM stamps her feet and says, 'I'm strong and stable, I'm strong and stable'.

Which would be funny if the vast majority of the UK weren't going to be fucked over in the process.

Giddyaunt18 · 05/06/2017 15:14

So today, 2 days after the attrocities, bridge bollards are put in place over The thames. If we had them then why the hell weren't they put up before? Too little too late Theresa! Gutted for those people that would have lived.

The80sweregreat · 05/06/2017 15:17

Everytime i hear her speak ( she was in Yorkshire on friday) I am counting the minutes until 'strong and stable' come out.
She was a few sentences into( Paul Dacre's) her speech before it appeared.
I had to smile.
People will still vote for them though. They dont trust labour enough on the economy or to fight terrorists ( in my opinion)

hackmum · 05/06/2017 15:33

Giddyaunt18: "If we had them then why the hell weren't they put up before?"

Because nobody knew before that terrorists were going to attack London Bridge?

On the basis that terrorists are probably going to strike again, which other roads do you think they should install bollards on?

Giddyaunt18 · 05/06/2017 15:36

Errr Westminster Bridge???

Giddyaunt18 · 05/06/2017 15:38

Apparently it was discussed last Friday and abandoned. How would you feel if it was your loved one that could have been saved? If these barriers were so readily available I find it shocking that they were not utilised after March attack and Manchester and the threat being raised to Critical only last week AND given that 5 other attacks have been foiled.

homebythesea · 05/06/2017 15:43

civqueen - turnout would have to be unprecedentedly high (think 70-80%) amongst the under 35's in seats outside the normally safe Labour areas of inner cities for it to make any real difference. Even if young people come out in force if they are in already safe or safe-ish Labour seats then it won't make any difference overall to seat numbers

Alfieisnoisy · 05/06/2017 15:45

Wrong and stable? I reach for the wine bottle every time I hear "magic money tree".

Can't abide her.

By the way there are plenty of magic money trees in the forests of tax avoidance.

Inkanta · 05/06/2017 15:47

Yes I agree with you too OP - that the speech from Theresa May yesterday will win the election. I had the exact same thought after hearing it.

PortiaCastis · 05/06/2017 15:48

Yes Alfie and in the valley of Google alongside the Amazonian rain forest

Giddyaunt18 · 05/06/2017 15:54

It would have won the election if she had not already been responsible for the very things she spouted about for the last 7 years!

SteppingOnToes · 05/06/2017 15:56

She said 'enough is enough' - so it is enough when London is targeted but not Manchester? She's alienated me even further

paxillin · 05/06/2017 16:04

Enough is enough indeed. Usually, conservative parties the world over do well in the face of a threat to security. Unfortunately, she was the Home Secretary in charge of security from 2010-2016 and has been PM since. People haven't forgotten that. Neither have they forgotten what she did to police numbers. Enough is seemingly only enough now that people are supposed to vote for her.

She kept pointing out she has a record earlier in the campaign. She does indeed and that is her problem.

Luncharmstrong · 05/06/2017 16:06

Op I agree

Madbengalmum · 05/06/2017 16:14

JC has just backtracked and said he doesn't think she should resign, what doesn't he change his mind on?
