Fox Hunting

Judgement - if she wants to bring this back, what's next? Was definitely going to vote for her. Now, there's absolutely no way! Not just because of hunting, much as I think it's disgusting, but how can someone wanting to run our country be so out of touch? Shows poor judgement. How out of touch would she be negotiating stuff for our country?

I don't think it's coming back.

DeeNR · 02/06/2017 23:00

Was definitely voting Theresa May. Now no way. Think she shows a disgusting lack of compassion wanting to bring back hunting. Poor judgement on this. What else is she so out of touch with?

Doesn't she want to scrap the pledge to ban ivory sales in the UK as well?

mynotsoperfectlife · 02/06/2017 23:01

It's not necessarily out of touch. I live rurally and legalised hunting would be welcomed here.

PurpleDaisies · 02/06/2017 23:02

She's giving MPs a free vote on repealing the ban so hopefully it won't actually come back.

ThymeLord · 02/06/2017 23:02

Ah brace yourself. This will bring the nobs riiiight out.

BearFoxBear · 02/06/2017 23:04

It's disgusting, but no more disgusting than how she's treating people. She's a disgrace to this country and I can't believe that anyone would vote for her.

CuddledUpWithMyCat · 02/06/2017 23:06

I would not vote for any party that has suggested bringing back fox hunting with hounds. I understand that foxes can be pests but there are much more humane ways that chasing across country and ripping them to shreds.

Alexis1983 · 02/06/2017 23:07

It's her personal view, not the party's. I don't think we need to worry about it coming back as legal. If it did there would be riots, Tories aren't that stupid. They know we care more about the cute foxes than the NHS let's be honest.

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 02/06/2017 23:11

My Tory MP will not support repeal, she has stated that publicly.

I'm very anti-hunting. I also live in a rural area, but I don't know anyone who supports hunting, even among friends who have horses.

fakenamefornow · 02/06/2017 23:12

Speak for yourself. I also live rurally and plenty of people around here are very anti, including me.

PurpleDaisies · 02/06/2017 23:14

It's exactly the same where I am.

CowParsleyNettle · 02/06/2017 23:15

She has agreed to have a vote on repealing the act (as did David Cameron, which he failed to go through with). I highly doubt that MPs will vote to scrap the act.

As for the ivory thing, all sales of ivory made post 1947(i think) are already banned, the change in the law would ban ALL sales of ivory, so if you had a 100 year old walking stick with an ivory handle it would be illegal to sell it. I think sticking a premium on antique ivory sales and donating it to elephant conservation would be more worthwhile.

mynotsoperfectlife · 02/06/2017 23:15

Er I wasn't speaking for myself I was speaking for the attitudes around me Hmm

PurpleDaisies · 02/06/2017 23:17

Er I wasn't speaking for myself I was speaking for the attitudes around me

And I was saying I don't recognise those attitudes in the rural community where I live.

mynotsoperfectlife · 02/06/2017 23:18

Then say it Smile you don't need me to tell you that not all communities are the same!

PurpleDaisies · 02/06/2017 23:20

I don't get what you're going on about mynotsoperfectlife. It's perfectly clear what fakenews and I were saying.

Have you been drinking?

mynotsoperfectlife · 02/06/2017 23:22

No, I'm teetotal actually. Don't blame me for being too obtuse to understand a perfectly clear point which is, that just because YOUR rural community is anti fox hunting, doesn't mean ALL rural communities are. Certainly, where I am there's a general feeling in favour of it. I despise it, but I'm not blind to the fact it has many supporters, unfortunately.

DreamingofItaly · 02/06/2017 23:39

I live in a rural community and know many people who would like the ban repealed. I also know people against it. I've seen the destruction foxes can cause and it's awful, same goes for badgers. They need to be controlled but I'm not an expert to say the best way in which to do that. I'm a little divided on the subject myself in truth.

Personally, I hate the hoo ha over what is a relative non issue in the grand scheme of things. You're unlikely to agree with every single policy of a party (I know I don't) so you should vote for the one you feel most comfortable with on the primary issues, NHS, Brexit, Taxation, Economic policies, Policing, etc. if that's Tory, vote Tory, if it's not, pick your party.
