ExMIL turned up today with a delivery from exH for the DDs. It was a toy. They already have this toy and DD2 used to play with it all the time fir about a year but has hardly played with it for the last few months. When they were last at ExH's she had played with his StepD's version of it and must have asked for one. He couldn't find the same one so bought them the nearest thing which happens to be the one they already have.
I'm annoyed. They already have a whole playroom full of toys and am concerned about them becoming spoilt. I don't buy them many toys as they get so many for birthdays, xmas and well meaning relatives. DD2 was upset as it was the wrong toy. DD1 was upset because the original version was really DD2's and now she'll have 2. She suggested that she could keep this one and DD2 could get the one she had wanted. Which would mean having 3 almost identical toys tgat they will probably never play with.
I feel bad because I complained about this to ExMIL who had gone out of her way to deliver it.and because the girls are now nagging me to buy the other version of the toy.
I know it was nice of ExH to buy them something but it just feels like he's being a Disney dad and not really thinking about the consequences.
