Wasp nest in fanjo

granny24 · 02/06/2017 22:05

I have been sent a warning on Facebook by a friend who obviously thinks I am going senile. Apparently I must NOT grind up wasp nests and put them up my fango as it can do damage! Who'd a thunked! When I googled it I found that It Is A Thing. Doctors have advised against it. Just in case any of you mumsnetters were thinking of doing it I implore you not to.😁

Would a whole one be ok? Is it the grinding up that makes it bad?

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 02/06/2017 22:09

Hopefully not still with the wasps still in it...

Sagethyme · 02/06/2017 22:11

Surely everyone knows that's stirring up a hornets nest?
Thought bees would be OK, although I guess the beehive is very dated these days?!

kaytee87 · 02/06/2017 22:11

ShockShock what the hell?! It's really bad that doctors have had to specifically advise against this Confused

OxfordshireLass · 02/06/2017 22:12

Bugger, there go my plans for tomorrow.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 02/06/2017 22:13

My fanjo, my rules Angry

SleepWhatSleep1 · 02/06/2017 22:14

Well I heard on the radio this morning that wasps nests are often over 1 metre in diameter. So that would be a little tricky....

granny24 · 02/06/2017 22:17

Sleep, I guess it depends on the fanjo!

Pollydonia · 02/06/2017 22:18

What? Why? How?

Foslady · 02/06/2017 22:18

Didn't the ancient Greeks or Romans use bees within a hollow penis as a form of vibrator....?
been out at the pub, can you tell

Gingernaut · 02/06/2017 22:19

Not wasp nests per se. Oak galls.

www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=803

Dried, ground and mixed into a paste to be applied to fanjos.

Who thought of that ?

Ikillallplants · 02/06/2017 22:22

Who tried that first? A woman looked at a wasps nest and thought "I know, why don't I grind that up and insert it into my chuff?" Confused

granny24 · 02/06/2017 22:22

Gingernaut. Yeah I know but apparently in US oak galls house wasps!

granny24 · 02/06/2017 22:23

Ikillallplants I am old enough not to be surprised by much, but this did it.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 02/06/2017 22:23

That's the wrong thing that goes buzz to go up your fanjo... next time try a vibrator.

HazelBite · 02/06/2017 22:24

Gosh we had 9 wasps nests in our loft last year maybe i could sell them on Ebay Wink

Gingernaut · 02/06/2017 22:26

Yes. Not just the US. They're here in the UK too.

Instead of nests that we all know, there are solitary parasitic wasps which are hosted by oak trees.

The larvae develop and hatch out what are effectively mutant acorns.

Even green, they look disgusting.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 02/06/2017 22:27

This isn't one of Gwyneth Paltrow's weird Goop things, is it?

Pinkheart5919 · 02/06/2017 22:27

Doctors have advised against it wtf? What kind of person lacks common sense so much they think grinding a wasp nest and shoving up the fanjo is a good idea?

TitaniasCloset · 02/06/2017 22:28

I just came across this story too. Shock

Jupitar · 02/06/2017 22:29

Who tried that first? A woman looked at a wasps nest and thought "I know, why don't I grind that up and insert it into my chuff?

The same person who saw an egg come out of a chickens arse and thought I'm going to eat that ?

PoorYorick · 02/06/2017 22:29

I guess that's my hen party plan out the window.

picklemepopcorn · 02/06/2017 22:33

No, it's all the fault of the vibrating fanjos. Other people got jealous and tried to create the experience for themselves...
