I am looking for some advice please. I went to my friends little girls birthday party, I was worried about a child and parent at the party. The child is only about 3 and is small. He hit other children at the party but I felt awful for the child as the mum dragged his arm, and pushed him. It was like it was shouting at the little boy and then smacking him every ten minutes when he did something wrong. He was crying so much as she ignored him and then kept roughly trying to make him sit in timeout. He was forcefully sat back on the seat when he got up. I felt so awful do you think I should report this?

Do you have enough details to report it? Know their names and addres etc?

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 02/06/2017 18:34

What did you do to help her?

ittakes2 · 02/06/2017 18:36

Unfort sounds like he is hitting other children since his mum is his role model and she is teaching him it's acceptable to hit other people when you are mad as she is smacking him. maybe ring a child protection helpline and ask their opinion?

I can't help feeling awful how he was being smacked and at dragged and at one point she pushed him over. I couldn't do anything to help as I didn't know anyone apart from the party host but she had a friend with her who was just as aggressive to him.

If the host was your friend, couldn't you bring it up and see what she says about the home situation?

It is still worth reporting, she might be under SS and it will build a picture of what is going on.

Yes I brought it up with my friend and she said that she feels sorry for him but he's really naughty. So I feel like no one can see its wrong and he shouldn't be treated like that however naughty he has been. I think the mum is under social services already. It seemed like the little boy has special educational needs and he is very small for his age.

child protection is everyone's business, yes I would report, it may be a small piece of a bigger jigsaw. poor little thing Sad better to raise a concern and it amount to nothing than say nothing and let a child suffer.
