Can't believe no one knows a boiler man!

My boiler has just randomly stopped working - fine this morning, broken when I got home.

Nobody I know on Facebook or via a school message group can recommend a boiler man!! No one!!

Why don't I know anyone useful?! Grin

Call British gas . They will fix it for £99 no matter what is wrong with it then you pay £22 a month after that for boiler insurance. Check out their website. They get someone out to you the next day.

tell us whereabouts in the country you are.. I know a good boiler man and I'm sure lots of mumsnetters do :)

Go on the Gas Safe website, if you have a well known brand of boiler they may have a function on their website where you can search for an installer. Then cross reference their website with their facebook etc, avoid anyone that is on MyBuilder/Check-a-Trade/RatedPeople etc as a good tradesman doesn't have to scrap about for work.

British Gas would be a last resort.

Surely you can use the company you use for your annual boiler service... right? ;-)

British Gas are ridiculously expensive. We needed a new boiler recently and the quote £1,000 more than an excellent Local Gas Safe registered heating engineer - who also happened to be on check-a-trade. Excellent references, totally honest quote and efficient service. Much better to support a local. Interestingly whilst working at our house the engineer took a call from an agency asking if he would undertake British Gas servicing - at something like £20 a visit. Not the rate I would expect for a good quality experienced service level.
