AIBU?

To think that the BBC are showing a clear labour bias?

I am basing this mostly on their news webpage. Over the last two weeks Corbyn has been smiling, looking benevolent, or standing at a podium on the BBC news home page nearly every day. Each time the headline has been pretty positive 'labour announce that' type thing. In contrast, May has been almost completely absent and Tory headlines have been negative 'Tories shown to be wrong'. I noticed this a few weeks ago so have been screen shot-ting a couple of times a day for the last two weeks (yes a bit mad I know). I have noticed a similar trend with the Radio 4 headlines though haven't been able to check that one. The question time audience last week was unquestionably partisan.

I did wonder if the Tories had hidden May or just decided not to bother campaigning but even then I thought the BBC were meant to be impartial?

The day Corbyn was on Woman's Hour, the World at One led with the story about him fumbling the figures. So I don't see any pro Corbyn bias. The truth is that May has completely ballsed up this election by refusing to answer any questions and talking like a robot. Even if you don't like him, you have to admit that Corbyn comes across as a normal human being.

YABU...BBC is always right leaning. Most of the mainstream news is tbh.

Then you have extreme left leaning like the guardian, which is a bit of a joke because of quite how biased it is...

I wish there was a completely neutral source of news tbh. Which is what the BBC is supposed to be, but hasn't been in as long as I can remember..

I will say that shows like The News Quiz and The Now show do seem to be anti Tory.

Corbyn was the 'main item' on one occasion, May was never the 'main item'.

There may be more stories about him, but they are nearly always negative. So yes, more focus on him...this is probably true across all sources. But more stories is not necessarily a good thing. So its actually bias against him, if everything is negative surely?

Most comedians have a left wing bias - was one reason they got rid of Sandi Totsvig on The News Quiz

YABVVVVVVU the BBC have been incredibly biased for the Tories. I know from personal experience!

Agree with 'caroldecker,' most comedians are left wing, and also many celebrities/ actors/ singers/ presenters etc are too. And so is twitter; that is MASSIVELY left wing. It's laughable to suggest any different...

Loughborough University have been researching bias in the media for some time. This is their latest report:

If we are seeing more Corbyn it's because he's been around more. When Theresa May shows her face more then we see more.

She is deliberately keeping quite a low, controlled profile. So there's less to report.

Pretty certain there's some right wing and even ultra right wing people on Twitter.

Just check out some replies to Hopkins.

But Twitter is open to everyone. You don't need to take a political test to join or post.

Yeah maybe he is getting more screenshots as he had got off his arse and is electioneering. May seems to have gone to ground.

The Beeb can't win.

Corbyn supporters think it shows Tory bias, and Tories think it shows Labour bias.

The bbc is full of tories. Laura Kuensberg is obviously a Corbyn hater. Her hatred of the SNP is so obvious as well. john Humphries is another one. He's a sexist arsehole as well.

Jo Coburn is another arse licker for the Tories.

I'd be interested to see some examples of BBC Labour bias, I havent noticed any.

Daily Fail headline was 'fury at bias on bbc TV debate'

Oh the irony...

The audience was a mix of mainly Tory and Labour, plus other parties, proportionally represented, and 50/50 split on brexit.

Maybe JC was applauded because he said great things.

Maybe Amber was booed as she spoke bullshit, that not even the Tories in the audience agreed with.

YABU.

Gluteus The BBC asked for the audience to be proportional. That does not mean they all told the truth on the questionnaires.
Also it was in Cambridge (Left and Remain) without the main party leaders (at time of audience selection). Not sure many would have bothered to travel far (particulalry Scots and Welsh).
Generally Left supporters tend to be more vocal and less polite in meetings than the right.

I heard recently that pollsters think that there has been a shift over the years in the willingness of public to lie to them. Now this may be excuse making but I feel it could be true.
Psychologists also reckon left wingers are more likely to be low in conscientiousness.

BBC has always been biased to the left. Anything to do with the arts is generally pro left wing.
