Almost too embarrassed to ask... so simple, so ignorant....

Im a long-term Lillets user... occasionally I buy Tampax as desperate and nowt else to buy....

So much stuff... Lillets, everything flushes down the loo....

Tampax - nice little paper wrapper AND double tube thing.... At home, where do you put these? Presumably neither flush....

I've spent last 3 days, carefully wrapping in loo paper and putting in bathroom bin... feel a bit ridiculous... but they feel too revealing just lying there for all to see in the bin.....

Guessing Im missing something really obvious....

No, it all goes in the bin.

They go in the bin. As do used tampons. A drain expert chap who came to stick rods down our blocked drain once told DH (not me because he didn't believe women could understand the nuances of drainage) that tampons are a huge cause of drain blockages and should never be flushed. For a few weeks after DH was like the tampon police.

you put them in the wrapping they came out of I have always thought but then I still wrap them in loo paper too....they are crap nowadays

You're just going to get loads of responses about how bad it is to flush them. Which it is. Bad and ignorant.

In the old days we were told they were flushable but about a million plumbers have since disagreed.

Chuck them in the bin. It's wrappers and a tube. Who cares?

Though I admit to changing the bathroom bins daily when i'm on my period because, frankly, the amount I can produce is not dissimilar to the horses head bit in The Godfather and would likely give the DCs nightmares.

Yep, all goes in the bin, along with your tampons which you shouldn't be flushing. You can buy little bags (like nappy bags) to put them in if you'd rather not put them directly in the bin.

I just put it all in the bathroom bin (it has a lid).

If you're at someone's house and don't want them to know you have periods (though it doesn't bother me), you can chuck loo roll on top.

If it bothers you that much, you can get little scented bags for them, or nappy bags. I just empty the bathroom bin every morning anyway (it alls fits in a nappy bag) and then I use the sanpro bins at work.

Do not flush, its gross and no-one wants their kids playing with your tampons on the beach.

Lilets with plastic applicators are the only tampons I use. They're the only ones that work and make my appalling periods slightly bearable. I would be devastated to lose them.

I wrap everything in a nappy sack and put it in the bin. Tampons should never be flushed. It advises you to bin them on the packaging now.

Never use nappy bags. I don't even use them for nappies. Just more plastic rubbish. In fact, unless you're planning on carrying a shitty nappy in your handbag for a few hours, what is the point of them?

They go in the bin. Everything. Only pee, poo and paper go in the loo.

When I walk to the station or into town, I see cotton buds on the pavement. Blue plastic stems. How do they get there and why? And why aren't they made with paper stems like in the good old days? And why do people flush them down the loo?

The toilet wipes should go in the bin even if it says flushable. Unless you like the idea of fatbergs or like paying emergency call out for plumbers.
