AIBU to think the postal votes should have been sent out by now?

So, I usually do postal voting as I historically work double shifts on a Thursday so no time to get to the polling booth on election days (which are always on a Thursday it seems). Usually this arrives 2-3 weeks before the election / referendum date. My postal vote this year still hasn't yet arrived, despite the election being next week. I phoned about it just now and he said they were still sending them out and I'd 'probably' get it in the next few days. AIBU to think this is a bit pants? What if I was going on a weeks holiday later on this week or something (which obviously a lot of people who will have applied for a postal vote this election may well be). You'd literally not be able to get the form in time before you left. It just seems a it rubbish. AIBU?

noenemee · 30/05/2017 16:28

I got mine this afternoon.

TheFairyCaravan · 30/05/2017 16:29

DS2 hasn't had his yet.

I'm still waiting for the card so I can vote by proxy for DS1.

It's all very last minute.

Sierra259 · 30/05/2017 16:29

We got ours early last week.

IggyAce · 30/05/2017 16:29

I got mine 22nd May.

HepKestrel · 30/05/2017 16:29

mines just arrived

peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/05/2017 16:29

I got mine last week - was starting to panic even then! I would ring the council and make sure you're definitely down for one.

Mummysh0rtlegs · 30/05/2017 16:29

Got mine and gone back, arrived last week.

KitKat1985 · 30/05/2017 16:33

Peaceloveandbiscuits - I already have. They have confirmed I'm down to have a postal vote but they haven't finished sending them all out yet!

I got mine three or four days after the date my polling card had declared it would (eg polling card said "about 22 May" and it arrived on 26th).

In theory you're OK so long as it arrives by Wednesday 7th (!)

DavidPuddy · 30/05/2017 16:52

I got mine nice and early. Which is funny because my Brexit referendum one never showed up...

LovelyBath77 · 30/05/2017 17:10

Had mine a couple of weeks ago.

Figgygal · 30/05/2017 17:11

I've had mine and completed/returned it

QuinionsRainbow · 30/05/2017 19:13

My postal voting papers arrived three days ago, and my ballot paper has been duly returned. My postal vote notification card arrived today!

Unexpectedbaby · 30/05/2017 20:04

I received mine last week

GoldTippedFeather · 30/05/2017 20:05

Got mine last week, I'm in Berkshire if that helps.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2017 20:10

We are in the NW and ours arrived on Sat. They seem really slow as the mayoral election ones came ages before the actual election. And in previous years we've had them a good while before whichever election was upcoming.

SheSaidHeSaid · 30/05/2017 20:11

I have mine, my DH, who signed up this year, hasn't.

BettySmut · 30/05/2017 20:13

I'm also in the NW and mine came on Saturday too. Returned ballot paper today.

AberdeenAngusina · 30/05/2017 20:23

Dh will be working abroad next week so applied for a postal vote. He got the acknowledgement two weeks ago but no voting papers yet. He leaves on Saturday, so he's getting worried.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 30/05/2017 20:24

I got mine last week, done and dusted.

Littlefish · 30/05/2017 20:25

I received mine last week and have already sent it back.

singme · 30/05/2017 20:26

What will you do? Same for my DH. Thinking of applying for a proxy vote but I don't think you can if you already have a postal one applied for?!?

BellyBean · 30/05/2017 20:44

Ours were sent out on thur so most received by now. Don't think it's helped being a snap election, lots more registering st the last min.

TheLegendOfBeans · 30/05/2017 20:46

SW London here and mine is AWOL
