Compliment or not?

At a recent night out I'd put make up on, which I very rarely do as quite honestly I CBA. An acquaintance said to me "you suit a bit of make up" I replied "errr thanks...I think". Not quite sure if that's a compliment, though aquaintance said it positively.
I wouldn't say I'm pretty by a long shot (with or without) so unsure how to take it.

I think it was bumbled way of saying you looked nice and a bit different. I think I would settle on it as a compliment.

It's suppose to be a compliment, she didn't say you look 'better', just that you suit it. I wouldn't overthink it (classic trait of mine) as you can obviously convince yourself otherwise!

Agree it is a complement. Sounds like something I would say Blush

It was a compliment - rather than saying you look nice tonight and perhaps getting the response of don't I always?

It was a way of saying how nice you looked in your makeup without the inference you don't normally look nice.

A very poorly worded compliment

I think it was a compliment.

Your make up looks nice might have sounded better but it was still a compliment.

I get the opposite, asked if I'm ill when I don't wear make up.
