Food was nearly done, and then I heard it switch off without beeping I went over to it and it started going on and off on and off. I got very nervous, So unplugged it. This is never happened before, so I don't know what happened. so unplugged it. This is never happened before, so I don't know what happened.

THERE IS another microwave but I don't know where it is plugged into. And I'm afraid to touch anything right now. I was about to start heating something up in the microwave.

Ok, first things first, break the fish goujon in half. If it is white and flaky it is ready, if a bit see through and rubbery then it isn't. Finish it off in a frying pan on a low heat.

Re electrics: if it is an appliance sat on the surface then follow the cable to the socket and switch it off. If it is built in, there will be a switch like a light switch but in the wrong place for a light switch. There will be one for each built in appliance.

Check your other electrics. Is fridge working? Lights? That will help you know what else is happening.

HerBluebiro · 30/05/2017 08:15

Have a feel as well. Should be piping hot throughout and flake easily.

If cold and or slimy probably not cooked

Can't tell just from a photo of the outside

SoupDragon · 30/05/2017 08:15

We can't tell you if it's cooked unfortunately. If you aren't sure you'll have to ditch them I think. There's no way of telling how long they'd been cooking properly for.

I also suspect you'll have to call an electrician as you don't want to be messing about with electrical sockets.

picklemepopcorn · 30/05/2017 08:16

Ok, visually impaired makes it a bit more complicated. Is the fish hot inside? To be honest, raw fish isn't the end of the world, just not as tasty as cooked fish.

picklemepopcorn · 30/05/2017 08:16

It looks cooked to me. Very white inside, not grey. I'd eat them.

Dancinginthemidnight · 30/05/2017 08:18

Was the fish piping hot when you cut into it? If it was its cooked if not its not. That extension plug you've got plugged in I'm sure they were banned because they're not safe.

CamberGirl · 30/05/2017 08:20

For Cod's sake be careful. Maybe you should Mullet over and get an electrician to check it out. Eel make sure it's safe and yes, you should only use one plug for Sole use for high powered equipment.

chipmonkey · 30/05/2017 08:20

It looks cooked to me too. The fish is bright white, no grey.

hellokittymania · 30/05/2017 08:20

Sorry, I'm trying to breathe here but this really made me panic. I only do meet in the convection oven usually as I know The time it needs to be in there. I felt the fish and one side is crispy, but because I didn't turn them over, the other side feels wet.

TheClaws · 30/05/2017 08:21

From the look of your fish, it is my conviction they are cooked. Certainly well enough to eat.

Make sure you have your oven looked at, OP.

hellokittymania · 30/05/2017 08:24

I'm a bit worried because the fridge isn't making any noise.

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 30/05/2017 08:25

Take a breath hellokitty. It's ok. If you don't smell smoke or rubbery burning smell than no need to worry too much at the moment.

Eat your dinner. Give yourself a minute. Then decide what to do about the electrics.

We'll talk you through deciding what to do, I don't think there is a rush or emergency just yet.

picklemepopcorn · 30/05/2017 08:26

Leave the fridge closed, that will keep the cool in for the moment. Fridges cycle in and out. It could just be in between. You'll hrs it kick in soon, if it is still working.

picklemepopcorn · 30/05/2017 08:27

Have I remembered right, is the area you live quite isolated? I know you work with other people, could you call one of them to take a look for you?

RestlessTravellerTheSequel · 30/05/2017 08:27

Do you suffer from anxiety op? You seem very stressed.

AnarchyKitty · 30/05/2017 08:28

Have you checked the main fuse box? Look for one of the fuse buttons that have flipped the other way to the others.

Andrewofgg · 30/05/2017 08:28

CamberGirl am I herring you right?

Conviction oven ranks up there with the time someone told us that we had to microwave the dog!

Waterlemon · 30/05/2017 08:30

Your electric should have tripped if it was the plug or socket. I would let the oven cool, then try using it in a different Socket.

BikeRunSki · 30/05/2017 08:31

Has whatever's happened to the oven tripped your electrics? Maybe this is why the fridge is silent. Can you get someone to check your fuse box?

hellokittymania · 30/05/2017 08:31

Popcorn, will call the landlord in a bit. I think it's still a bit early, but I really don't want to touch anything. I turned the things that look like light switches off. But I don't know where the other electrical appliances are plugged in.

OP posts:
BarbaraofSeville · 30/05/2017 08:34

Battered fish products are already cooked, so no need to worry about eating undercooked fish. If it feels warm in the middle, it'll be fine. If not, can you fry them for a few minutes?

could you have had a power cut/brown out? Can you check your fuse box to see if all the fuses are still on or if one has tripped?

YY to googling your oven model number and troubleshooter or fault. There's often loads of information online or the installers guide or instruction book.

hellokittymania · 30/05/2017 08:35

Fridge is closed, I don't even know where the fuse box is. There's still no noise from it, the fridge no vibration, nothing.

OP posts:
LIZS · 30/05/2017 08:35

Aren't they precooked so the look won't give it away, it depends if they've heated through fully. I wonder if you've blown a fuse and short circuited the power. Can you access the fuse box? Tbh you shouldn't really have that type of plug adaptor in the kitchen as moisture could easily get in. The whole set up looks potentially lethal.

ExplodedCloud · 30/05/2017 08:36

If there is a fault with the oven it may have blown the fuse or tripped the ring main. Hopefully your fuseboard is labelled and you can see if any of the switches are in a different position to the others.
If none are then you should still have a light on when you open your fridge.
The ceiling lights should be on a separate circuit and still work.

SnickersWasAHorse · 30/05/2017 08:37

I'm sorry that I'm piss taking when you are clearly genuinely distressed op.

Are you worried about just the electric in the kitchen or the whole house? Does the tv or radio come on?
You are worried about the fridge not making a sound. Does the light come on when you open the door. If your VI makes it hard to tell then touch the light, it should be warm.
