To check into a hotel tonight?

I have a new job and have to work double shifts. This means every two weeks I have to do 20 hours straight in a demanding role. The first of these double shifts is tomorrow morning.

DH and I live in a one bedroom flat. This afternoon he sprung on me "Can my friend stay tonight?" This means on the sofa in the front room. Last time this friend stayed lights were on, he was using the bathroom late (all reasonable but hugely inconvenient).

I am so stressed about this shift tomorrow and really needed a relaxing evening and good nights sleep. Our flat is tiny so you can hear people in every room. I am so angry as the friend asked three days ago and DH said yes not thinking about my work. Now it feels too late to tell the friend who lives in another city no.

AIBU to book into a hotel? I'm so angry.

Good, enjoy x

Ask at check-in for a quiet room and then forget him and relax. Work your shift, come home, recover then deal with him!

FanaticalFox · 29/05/2017 16:04

Ooh sounds like a perfect time to go to a hotel. Get room service, have a glass of wine and a long hot bath and chill you deserve it. In a round about way your OH has done you a favour, make him pay for it all and enjoy your relaxing evening and feel refreshed for work tomorrow Flowers

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/05/2017 16:08

Have a wonderful time!

AnyFucker · 29/05/2017 16:17

"Make him pay"

If they are married and have joint money that is an empty gesture

Much like removing yourself from your own home to accomodate a lad's night in. I just don't understand people who employ passive aggression to "make a point"

Op, your H has been thoughtless and the only consequence to him is he gets to enjoy a guilt free booze up with his pal without your whiney face putting a dampener on it

His "apologies" are empty pisstakes if he just keeps on behaving in the same way

Ginfiend · 29/05/2017 16:19

OP just out of curiosity, if not HCP, what industry are you in that makes people do 20hr shifts?
Understand if you don't want to say though!

AnyFucker

He's not having a booze up (projecting, much?), his friend doesn't even drink. The friend has a flight from our city on the morning that's the reason for his stay.

Are you calling me a boozer ? Wink

Love, you are the one who has had to leave your own house.

No "projection" required. You have been well and truly shafted and getting a bit snippy with internet sprites like myself won't make you feel better.

I feel AF account has been hacked. Lately you seem cruel, mean, unnecessarily harsh with your comments, AF. You've always been very good at advice, lately not so much. Just imho of course.

OP. You did the right thing. Away from the mess and noise and you got a good rest hopefully. Nothing to be negative about there.

Andrewofgg · 30/05/2017 07:46

Hope you got a good night's sleep.

Now tell H Never again. No offers to put anybody up without previous discussion in private. No exceptions.

thinkiamgoingcrazy · 30/05/2017 08:00

I hope you enjoyed your night in the hotel OP. I guess your H will now think twice before making plans without asking you - will he?

[I would love a night in a hotel Grin.]

Yes I worry AnyFuckers account has been hacked too, the comments here seem point scoring and spiteful as have a few others I've noticed. Not her past style.

I had a great night's sleep! DH is being very contrite he wouldn't dare do it again!
