The super helpful helpful advert I heard on the radio yesterday advised that if it's the former then you can use your own judgement. Bacons probably fine, it's made to last.

I rarely look at dates once things are in the house , if it looks ok , and smells ok it's probably ok .

DH (ex chef) says yes it'll be fine to use. You would be able to smell if it has gone off.

It is unopened, will see how it smells when I open it!

If it's unopened it's even more likely to be fine.
