Melissa Etheridge. Love her vocals!

Have only heard one song by this next lady - Sass Jordan - Pissin' Down. Amazing vocals.

Some already mentioned, plus Maddy Prior and Tanita Tikaram

SovietKitsch · 28/05/2017 19:19

All of my favourite artists are women: Joni Mitchell, Regina Spektor and the Indigo Girls (Amy Ray and Emily Saliers).

Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet for me

Very enjoying Gillian Welch and Laura Marling at the moment.

Some great female-led bands too like Hinds, Haim and Sleater-Kearney.

Also Courtney Barnett and Duke Spirit.

Love Skunk Anasie. Secretly is amazing

Scholes34 · 28/05/2017 19:41

I find I'm quite particular about female singers. Cannot stand Celine Dion or anyone who warbles on about how their life is meaningless without their man.

I love singers like Kirsty McColl - more robust and able to exist without a man, but still quite like one around from time to time.

In these shoes?

MuffinTip · 28/05/2017 19:43

These may have already been mentioned but Lapsley is great and Foxes

SuperJesus · 28/05/2017 19:49

And KD's Hallelujah is amazing

Couldn't agree more! Dp and I LOVE the jools Holland performance of this.

I actually DO prefer female singers to male. I don't know if that's because I'm gay or not tbh, so I enjoy the voices more Confused

I bet no-one's mentioned Ali Dineen because she's not well known even in New York, where she grew up and lives, but her song "What You Know" from the album "Light Gets In" is on constant rotation at the moment. You can find it on Spotify.
