To not have a fucking clue which party to vote for?

For the first time ever I am considering spoiling my paper.

Live in a pretty safe Tory seat with Lib dem possibilities. I've voted lib dem for the last few elections.

But I don't like Farron and really don't agree with legalising cannabis. I'd like a soft Brexit but also don't want to keep yearning after Remain (I voted remain)

I hate the idea of grammar schools, fox hunting and social care cuts, so that's the tories out, although I'm brainwashed enough to think that TM is experienced enough to negotiate successfully with the EU.

THE Labour manifesto seems all lovely and cuddly but I don't believe for a second they can afford half of it. Plus I don't mind JC but hate the majority of his front bench. I run my own company and am unsure whether Labour will be any help to me at all.

I don't like any of the leaders very much.

Argh.

Our aging population are putting a massive strain on the NHS.
They are the big Tory voters too.

Jupitar · 28/05/2017 17:47

www.tactical2017.com

If you want to keep the tories out but don't know who to vote for, you can put your postcode in the above website and it will tell you who has the best chance of beating the tories.

Ankleswingers · 28/05/2017 17:49

If you want an unbiased view on which party to vote for, then why ask MN?

It's the most left wing site there is Grin

I personally find the thought of Corbyn as PM and Diane Abbott as Home Secretary terrifying.

Did you see the Andrew Marr programme that was on earlier today with Diane Abbott?

Utterly cringeworthy and embarrassing. She showed herself to be the fool that she is.

bruffian · 28/05/2017 17:49

Can't even find the name of our local labour candidate! Our local labour twitter feed has pictures of someone canvassing but he has a first name only on Twitter! Their website doesnt tell you either! Cretins!

I don't know why anyone's talking about the 70s, the labour party was in power 1997-2005!

Please tell me you're joking Shock

bruffian · 28/05/2017 17:52

One night in a and e and I believe our NHS is struggling due to the amount of pissheads and idiots that go there with broken nails (honestly!), coughs (yes!). If anything was an advert for making people pay for the NHS that was!! (said in black humour)

Squeegle · 28/05/2017 17:54

jupiter haha sorry I meant 2010, but my question is still the same, we were talking about labour and the NHS and things improving for NHS under last labour govt, and then it was all about people being less fat in the 70s - so my confusion stemmed from that!

myusernameisgeneric · 28/05/2017 17:58

I am really struggling this time. I'm a floating voter and all I'm sure of is that I won't vote Tory. I will likely vote for my current mp as I feel he Does a good job. He also isn't Tory. After the brexit farce and the insane Cuts to disability benefits I cannot in good conscience vote Tory.

MinkowskisButterfly · 28/05/2017 17:59

I don't think Lib Dems have much hope of getting in alone and can't see others parties agreeing with the legalising of cannabis (thankfully), however you need to think how much you want your current MP (and party) to remain in that spot.... www.tactical2017.com This will show who to vote to keep/get tories out if that is what you want (to stop fox hunting ban being repealed, further destruction of the NHS, etc, etc,)

She is bad, but Michael Fallon the conservative Secretary of State has outranked her on total cocked up interviews over the past 2 days, you'd have thought he'd have learnt his lesson after the Ch4 interview but oh no, goes and does it again with the Preston interview in ITV

MerryMarigold · 28/05/2017 18:12

I'm in a fairly safe Tory seat, but the only possible hope of removing Tories is to vote tactically so will vote Lib Dem. You never know...maybe people have had enough of Tory education and health.

In terms of paper spoiling. Sorry but I don't get it. Just don't vote.

Squeegle · 28/05/2017 18:33

I agree merry, a spoiled vote is a wasted vote, surely better to go for least hated party.? It's got to be better than most hated party

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 28/05/2017 19:31

Sorry but I don't get it. Just don't vote.

Spoilt papers still get counted and registered as a spoilt paper in the count. No votes don't.

SeaWitchly · 28/05/2017 19:58

I feel the future of the NHS is one of the most important issues this country faces and would personally rather hear from the professionals who work within the service than pontificating politicians.

Therefore I'll leave it to them to tell you - Don't vote Tory!!!

Personally I'll be voting Labour but I would say read the manifestos and vote with the party that most alligns with your values and aspirations.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/05/2017 20:06

Why do people think The NHS will be safer with Labour? They started the dreadful PFI and they will overextend financially.
It's just like buying a huge mansion with a mortgage one cannot afford.
The NHS needs careful managing, not populist promises.

elizabethleicester · 28/05/2017 20:07

General elections are not supposed to be about leadership personalities

Do the leaders actually have personalities ?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 28/05/2017 20:13

Not sure this lot do elizabethleicester

MerryMarigold · 28/05/2017 21:13

Yes, I know that but what's the point? It could be spoilt for any number of reasons, including that you just did it wrong by accident, so it doesn't even really register as a protest. Even if you do want it show as a protest, what are you saying? I didn't want to vote for anyone. And?

MerryMarigold · 28/05/2017 21:14

The NHS needs careful managing, not populist promises.

That's true, but the one thing it really DOESN'T need is cuts. Likewise education.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/05/2017 21:23

Overextending financially now will inevitably bring more cuts later.

slightlyglitterbrained · 28/05/2017 21:41

For those of you worrying about the NHS, are you in these constituencies?:
nhap.org/just-when-you-thought-there-couldnt-be-another-election/

For anyone else, just look at www.tactical2017.com/

The thing is with voting is that it's almost always going to be a tradeoff of some sort. There's never any party that fits perfectly - better to express an opinion IMHO than not vote at all. Look at all the huffy Bernie supporters in the USA who now have Trump because they couldn't bring themselves to vote Hillary.

Squeegle · 28/05/2017 21:57

chardonnay you're not wrong; the NHS
needs careful management- but the tories are well in the way to getting rid of it. Look at all the mental health services now being managed by Virgin. Is this what we want? I think not

slightlyglitterbrained · 28/05/2017 22:00

Having worked for a Virgin company, I'd have to say my opinion is that they throw fucking great staff parties but are clueless on management skills. Not who I want running childrens mental health services.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/05/2017 22:01

Labour hasn't been blameless in this game, Squeegle.

I don't want a spend and bust future.

noblegiraffe · 28/05/2017 22:02

Oh the Tory cuts, look how well they've done. Cutting social care has led to elderly patients unable to leave hospital and taking up precious beds. That was a good idea. Hmm So now they're hoping that relatives will take time off work to look after the elderly for free. Desperate for everyone else to pitch in to mop up their messes.
