To not have a fucking clue which party to vote for?

For the first time ever I am considering spoiling my paper.

Live in a pretty safe Tory seat with Lib dem possibilities. I've voted lib dem for the last few elections.

But I don't like Farron and really don't agree with legalising cannabis. I'd like a soft Brexit but also don't want to keep yearning after Remain (I voted remain)

I hate the idea of grammar schools, fox hunting and social care cuts, so that's the tories out, although I'm brainwashed enough to think that TM is experienced enough to negotiate successfully with the EU.

THE Labour manifesto seems all lovely and cuddly but I don't believe for a second they can afford half of it. Plus I don't mind JC but hate the majority of his front bench. I run my own company and am unsure whether Labour will be any help to me at all.

I don't like any of the leaders very much.

Argh.

And as for getting a hard or soft Brexit ... We'll get what we're given. It's very arrogant to think we'll be in a position to negotiate anything to our advantage because we're leaving and the other countries really don't give a shit.

bruffian · 28/05/2017 09:07

That's not helpful Sherlock Grin

True, but I wouldn't trust TM and BoJo to negotiate a dominos meal deal let alone brexit Grin,

MakChoon · 28/05/2017 11:32

Agree with PP, if you know you don't want to vote Tory then vote for whichever non-Tory local candidate is the most likely to win in your area. At least then when the Tories win it won't be so easy for their policies to manifest.

I'm in a Conservative safe seat and will vote Lib Dem, in the hope that there's enough like-minded locals to make up the 10k shortfall needed for Lib Dems to win this seat. It's unlikely to happen but regardless, it'll feel like I've at least tried to use my vote in a useful manner.

EastMidsMummy · 28/05/2017 11:45

I'm brainwashed enough to think that TM is experienced enough to negotiate successfully with the EU.

There's no reason to think she's some super negotiator. She won't even debate with Corbyn on TV!

Watch her being interviewed. She's very poor at being able to adapt to the nuances of a question - she just bangs on with what she wanted to say. That's not going to get her very far in EU negotiations.

sysysysref · 28/05/2017 11:45

I don't know who I am voting for as I'm a labour voter usually but I just can't get behind their manifesto, and neither could I bear the thought of Diane Abbott and JC at the helm. i guess it's lib dems then

EastMidsMummy · 28/05/2017 11:47

If you care about what will help you personally - vote Conservative.

Unless you use state schools, the NHS, the police service, social care etc etc

noblegiraffe · 28/05/2017 11:49

Yes, FGS if you've got school-aged children, don't vote Conservative. They've got years of funding cuts planned, and disastrous plans for education.

metspengler · 28/05/2017 12:03

They all offer reasons not to vote for them.

Labour and Lib Dem are so bad that it may have to be Conservative. Jeremy Corbyn must be kept out of Number 10. Tim Farron slightly less so but still. Fox hunting is not nice but it is currently illegal and will stay so, so it would be childish to treat it as a central issue in the current climate. Theresa May is in Number 10 and has been for a while and I'm not worried about her ability to do the job so far.

RustyBear · 28/05/2017 12:21

I'm in a Tory stronghold, and there were suggestions that either Labour & Lib dems should agree to withdraw. They couldn't agree, though because although traditionally the Liberals/Lib Dems have been a reasonably strong second, last time, because of the LibDem crash, Labour actually polled around 500 votes more. So it will be Tory again, especially as UKIP have pulled out because the sitting MP is strongly Brexit (though the constituency voted Remain), so no splitting of the right-wing vote.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/05/2017 12:28

I will vote conservative because for me they are the lesser evil.

VocalCat · 28/05/2017 12:31

I'm voting Green because there is a fundamental reason why I cannot bring myself to vote for either Tory, Labour or Lib Dem. All of the parties have some policies I like and others I dislike but this is the only election where I have felt so conflicted and undecided about who to vote for.

PhilODox · 28/05/2017 12:42

I find that I can get behind a few policies, but then there are too many I hate!

Well, apart from ukip, obviously.

I'm in a marginal too, and it's really crucial.

But really, I don't want any of them, shower of useless self-serving egotists.

olliegarchy99 · 28/05/2017 12:44

Don't vote labour - they cannot afford their empty promises and they will not be strong on anything that it matters about.
People who vote labour without remembering the damage they have done to our society should feel a little bit shame-faced.Hmm
Vote tacticallyy to keep labour, the snp and libdems out.

HTH

Reow · 28/05/2017 12:44

Labour. There, done.

BestIsWest · 28/05/2017 12:50

Labour damaged society?
Who gave us the NHS and who told us 'There is no such thing as society '?

BestIsWest · 28/05/2017 12:51

Meant to add, Vote Labour unless you're in a constituency where another party might get the Tories out.

Purplepixiedust · 28/05/2017 12:51

I got labour in the quiz. Interesting to see the result (I expected lib dem but have been undecided which way to vote).

Basically please turn up and vote for anyone but the conservatives would by my stance on it.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 28/05/2017 12:58

I'm listening to Nhs workers and workers in education and voting not Tory.

I don't believe a good deal is possible re brexit- brexitters have fucked the country- so who pulls the plug is irrelevant to me.

My (Tory) mp is a twat.

Going to local hustings next week and will decide lib dem or lab after that.

colalight · 28/05/2017 13:04

I'm a tory supporter in Scotland, not easy, believe me. Used to be labour but labour have been disasterous in recent years.

In my constituency it will be between labour and SNP. The SNP candidate has only been in place since 2015. He's nice enough to speak to but I could not tell you what he's done for the area.

The labour candidate is brand new, so I know nothing about her either. Nor do I know any of the other candidates.

Our labour MP pre 2015 was in the post for a long time and you always saw him out and about, talking to locals, every issue there was he was there, every celebration, he was there. He was well liked and respected - he retired, he wasn't voted out.

I can't say the same for any of the current candidates but I see myself voting labour. A tactical vote to keep the SNP out and avoid independence.

BuzzKillington · 28/05/2017 13:04

I have just done the quiz and it says Conservative, which is what I would normally vote. But I have done the 'I side with' quiz twice and both times it was Labour.

I cant help but think Labour would be a catastrophe.

metspengler · 28/05/2017 13:08

CaptainBrickbeard · 28/05/2017 13:14

Neither May or Corbyn will be negotiating Brexit- it's Davis or Starter. May's stance on Brexit so far has been awful - arrogant, unpleasant and utterly delusional. People criticise the Labour manifesto for wishful thinking but May seems to imagine she can leave the EU but retain all the advantages whilst giving nothing back?? No deal better than a bad deal? Turn Britain into a tax haven? What on earth about her stance so far has convinced you that she's in any way equipped to handle this?

I think this election will have some big shocks; look at the referendum, at America and at France - I don't think any seats are totally safe, I think things could swing in any direction. This of all elections is one where I wouldn't dream of abstaining or spoiling my ballot - huge changes are afoot, everything is unstable and none of us want to regret not using our voice this time, imo anyway. I get the anger and disappointment but none of us will get the perfect government of our dreams- pick the closest to your vision and go with them.

CaptainBrickbeard · 28/05/2017 13:15

Sorry, my phone hates Starmer!

waggawagga · 28/05/2017 14:51

Tory for me.
Can't stand Diane Abbott or McDonnell .the thought of these two clowns running our economy and home office fills me with goto horror.

The way I look at it...
If Labour get in they are going to spend their way to Oblivion.
Then 5 years later the Tories will get back in and have to have more austerity to reduce the bigger deficit caused by Labour.
So we'll end up paying more.

We need tm to sort out brexit. Labour won't be able to. JC had already given away his negotiating hand in their manifesto. Europe will walk all over him.

NHS won't be safer, it's labours fault it's so heavily in debt with PFI
