To wonder why so much fuss about Prince William going bald?

There seems to be a kind of horrified obsession with this in the media here. I don't quite get it. If you look around a significant number of men including young men go through this so why all the hand-wringing? It can't do the confidence of a young balding man much good to hear and see the massive stick PW has got over this.

DorisMcSweeney if you had a male relative you cared about experiencing this would you still be making these slightly weird ironic statements about it plus using demeaning judgemental terms? I do think there is a problem with constantly hiding behind the "it's just a joke, can't believe you are taking it seriously" stuff. If you didn't have any motivation at all for saying it you wouldn't say it at all would you?

DH is follicly challenged and I applaud Doris. She is pointing out the ridiculousness of the obsession with appearance through humour.

GretchenFranklin · 28/05/2017 11:37

He should just start wearing his crown everywhere. That'd shut them up.

Doris is funny you old sillybillies

DorisMcSweeney · 28/05/2017 11:37

I think some posters are not taking seriously the threat to our society when a baldy becomes head of state. I can't believe he is allowed to fly a helicopter with the sun reflecting off his bonce.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/05/2017 11:41

Doris
You are missing the point. The bald bit acts as a solar panel so he thinks exceptionally quickly at this time of year. Midwinter less so.

DorisMcSweeney · 28/05/2017 11:45

Good point Chaz. All the baldy despots were from hot countries. There was that chap in west Africa, wotisname, and the geezer in South America, General Slap, and if I could be bothered to look it up, I am sure Pol Pot was a baldy.

SouthWestmom · 28/05/2017 12:06

DH is bald and he wouldn't contemplate being King as he knows it would impact on his ability to do the job properly

EastMidsMummy · 28/05/2017 12:08

Stop consuming shit media. I haven't seen anything about Prince William going bald before this thread.

The press were just as obsessed with his dad's encroaching baldness forty odd years back.

Personally I'd prefer to see him and the rest of the royals feel free to whip the rest off if they were so inclined. Having to keep it makes them look like presenters on seventies Saturday night TV.

EndInjustice · 28/05/2017 12:40

Who cares if he goes down in history as William the Bald? It could be worse....

nina2b · 28/05/2017 12:51

Re. Prince Albert of Monaco - or is he king, now...? - he is in a category all of his own. He must have been a changeling; I honestly cannot believe Princess Grace gave birth to that.

By God you've just uncovered the great conspiracy. All the focus on William's hair is a distraction from his father's follicles.
His father is called Charles and there has already been one Charles the bald

Clearly William's father intends to declare himself Holy Roman Emperor on his ascent to the throne.

Calling people "baldy" - if they are youngish - is a bit juvenile. In other news, Bruce Willis for instance looks waaaay better bald. Ditto Yul Bryner and the guy who was in Startrek.

So no I don't think dear Doris is funny or a bit of a card, as they presumably used to say in Ye Olde Mumsnete. Anyway, since some of you started bigging her up, she has started trying too hard...

BunnyBunnyMooseMoose · 28/05/2017 15:17

I love you Doris Grin

DorisMcSweeney · 28/05/2017 15:24

If calling someone baldy is juvenile, what is the correct term? Chrome dome? Mekon? Cue ball?

squoosh · 28/05/2017 15:27

The tabloids need to fill their column inches with a certain amount of inane royal chat every day. Sometimes the pickings are so slim, Kate's MIA, Princess Anne's dog hasn't taken a lump out of someone, George hasn't once more proved himself a genius among toddlers.......so William's hair or lack thereof is all that's left.
