To wonder why so much fuss about Prince William going bald?

There seems to be a kind of horrified obsession with this in the media here. I don't quite get it. If you look around a significant number of men including young men go through this so why all the hand-wringing? It can't do the confidence of a young balding man much good to hear and see the massive stick PW has got over this.

The country will be a laughing stock with a baldy king. Just look at Prince Albert in Monaco, no one takes that 'country' seriously.

NotAPuffin · 27/05/2017 21:24

Maybe they're worried that the crown will slide off?

EdmundCleverClogs · 27/05/2017 21:26

DorisMcSweeney considering all the ridiculous decisions this country has made over the last couple of years, and how our politicians (you know, those actually in power) continue to embarrass us on an international level, I cannot see how a half bald bloke in a silly ceremonial role will stop GB being 'taken seriously'.

EdmundCleverClogs · 27/05/2017 21:27

Oh, and Monaco is a principality, not a country....

DorisMcSweeney · 27/05/2017 21:29

Which proves my point. If we have a baldy head of state we will be downgraded to a principality.

EdmundCleverClogs · 27/05/2017 21:33

Yes, that's exactly how that works Doris. Let's just encompass the whole UK into Wales and be done with it now.

Aggieisback1 · 27/05/2017 21:35

DorisMcSweeney perhaps you would like to make baldness a criminal offence, certainly sounds like it.
There is something psychological it seems underlying the coverage which I can't quite put my finger on. A kind of disappointment mixed with anger, really quite strange. I remember the doing William Hague got when Tory leader for the same reason.

Gorbachev was bald and that resulted in the break up of the Soviet Union

Highalert · 27/05/2017 21:37

He should get himself a wig.

Highalert · 27/05/2017 21:39

No one wants to see the light bouncing off his bald spot on his overseas Jollys,

stormywaters · 27/05/2017 21:41

Yul Brynner was bold and it seemed to enhance his looks. I suppose it might depend on the bone structure of the face. Also Errol Brown from Hot Chocolate. I think William lacks the chiselled features to carry it off.

stormywaters · 27/05/2017 21:42

Bald not bold.

Highalert · 27/05/2017 21:45

He could do a comb over.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 27/05/2017 22:10

I am no Royalist (Irish Nationalist in fact 👍) but I think Prince William looks ok!! He isn't as nice looking as you would have anticipated upon seeing his first day at Eton but he isn't disgusting or anything!

He is average!! Distinctly so!😂

Murine · 27/05/2017 22:13

Grin Doris

TeenyfTroon · 27/05/2017 22:18

Give over, Doris! Grin

Aggieisback1 · 28/05/2017 03:55

Agree he isn't ugly as the press seem to almost want to paint him.It must be hurtful to have this pored over and know there isn't anything you can do.

OP posts:
MistySparrow · 28/05/2017 04:09

Love how people are taking Doris seriously Grin

Sconesnotscones · 28/05/2017 05:10

Yul Brynner was bold
Actually, Yul Brynner wasn't bald. He suffered from male pattern baldness (I suppose similar to Fred Astaire's hair during his early days), which isn't really considered balding. Brynner saved his hair for Broadway and his role in "The King & I" and was so successful and striking with the look, he just kept it.

DorisMcSweeney · 28/05/2017 06:30

Maybe Wills should get a Union Jack tattooed on his head. That would help reduce the glare in photographs and show his loyalty to the UK

ArseyTussle · 28/05/2017 07:01

It's being commented on precisely because it's unusual at his age to keep length round the sides when the top is going. That's what's so ageing.

It's perfectly possible to look 'official' and have v short hair e.g. Chuka Ummuna.

I agree with the tattoo idea though.

Miniwookie · 28/05/2017 07:15

Well stop reading the DM then. I have literally never seen anything in the press about Prince William's hair loss because I never look at the kind of tabloid shite that regards it as news.

EdmundCleverClogs · 28/05/2017 08:19

MistySparrow, I don't think she's serious. Don't think she's very funny either, just odd.

Highalert · 28/05/2017 08:31

I think Doris is very funny. Humour is in very short suipply on MM there days.

x2boys · 28/05/2017 08:32

Male pattern baldness is bald isnt it ? My dh is bald he started going bald at 17 the Dr diagnosed male pattern baldness he shaves it all off Prince William would look so much better if he could shave it off
