Wembley play offs

Would you let your 7 year old son go to Wembley for the play off's in the current climate of critical?

The AIBU is around whether I should put my foot down about him going

Who's he going with?

We're going - 2x mums and our respective ds's

We are all going on Monday. Risk of an incident happening is now less than it was before the dreadful attack in Manchester. I would let him go.

It's got to be up to you but my family and I are still going. You simply can't predict where something like this would happen and I'm not prepared to stay in my house for the rest of my life.

To be honest anyone going is statically more likely to die travelling there.

My DS is going...Granted he's 18, but it wouldn't occur to me to suggest he doesn't go.

If we were going together or with his dad yes I'd let him go, security will be major and the visible presence will be enormous.

We went into the west end yesterday to see the lion king - security was noticable higher going in and out.

Make sure they leave plenty of time to get there and into the stadium, there will be bag and body searches.

Yes. They have been doing search on entry to stadia since the Paris attacks. The security and searches on Monday will be super vigilant now.

Me and DH are going to the Cup Final on Saturday. I admit to being very nervous, but as other posters have said, security will be very tight, even more than normal. Interestingly over the last few weeks of the season I have noticed increased security in our team's ground as well; having to show your ticket at the gates, and then two bag checks before you get to the turnstiles. Anything that tries to keep us safe is ok in my book.

I don't think I would but then I'm in the minority on here and do let terrorism affect my choices, it's not a conscious decision and no matter how many times people quote statistics I would still be on edge in a large crowd and not be able to relax so I wouldn't enjoy it anyway.

We're taking the kids to Alton Towers tomorrow and have just heard they've got armed police there, instead of reassuring me it's made me nervous because I never dreamt a theme park would be a target.

I don't see what deterrent armed police are to a suicide bomber, they're going to die anyway, I can see how they could stop a marauding gunman and reduce casualties but with a bomber they make no difference.

(a) Don't let terrorists stop you living your life.

(b) Security will be stricter than ever so best not to take any packpacks etc. Also Wembley don't usually let you take drinks in so give him disposable bottle of water etc for the journey there.

(c) At Wembley at various points you can get wristbands in case the child gets lost to assist finding you.

I hope he has fun (and that we win).

There will be extra stewards, at least sone of the Arsenal stewards who were due to work the screening at the Emirates will now be working at Wembley instead.

I would. I would also make sure he knows what to do if separated from the adult he is with. Who to approach, a sensible meeting place etc.
