Dishwasher Cutlery Baskets

AIBU to think that we go through more dishwasher cutlery baskets than is normal? I've had my dishwasher for 3 years and have already had to buy 2 replacement baskets as previous ones got holes and the cutlery falls through. So that's roughly 1 per year.

Is this the norm? Or are we a bunch of savages when it comes to loading cutlery?

How often do you have to replace yours?

This is so spooky! I was only googling dishwasher cutlery baskets today. I, too, need another to hold test tubes. Grin

It's just you.
Had a few dishwashers over many years and have never replaced a cutlery basket.
thinking about it, My Mum had a dishwasher since the early 1970s and I am not ever aware of a cutlery basket needing replacing Confused

What are you 'dropping from a height' - the basket itself (why?) or do you aim cutlery at it from the table like some kind of fairground game ?

The cutlery thing was missing from my dishwasher when I bought it and I've been using a metal container from Ikea which is fab and completely indestructible!

I have a Miele with a cutlery tray - it's fab! The time spent placing stuff in is easily made up when unloading and all your knives, forks etc are together and can be picked up and put away instead of sorting through a basket.

MiaowTheCat - using an old cutlery basket as a kids pen pot .... Brilliant idea!
