Overprotective?

My child has been asked to go to a friends house, without me being there.
I dont know the parents very well as children are friends at school. They are in the infants together

Nope, not overprotective if you haven't met the parents. But how old is your child ?

Can you arrange o meet at a local park or play area so you and the other parents can get to know each other before they start going to each other's houses?

Met the parents, nothing to make me worry, just dont know them 'well enough' imo.

Ive only spoken to the dad once or twice, the mother quite often. Smelt cannabis coming from thier house when i dropped thier child off after a trip to play area (just remembered that actually)

That alone would stop me from taking my child around there. Not sure why you even ask whether you're 'overprotective' or not?

It's normal to have playdates where 6 year olds are alone...I did it...but something about it DID sit uncomfortably with me. It's odd really...that we're all expected to leave DC in stranger's homes...even if we've met the parents at the gates a few times and feel "ok" about them...we don't meet the whole household do we?

Anyway...the cannabis is enough to say no. Just say she's too shy without you still.

Of course you shouldn't let her go to the cannabis house.
