Spider bite on baby's leg?

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 13:36

Hi I know this is not an Aibu but I knew it would get more answers quick. I was changing my baby when I noticed what looks like a spider bite on her inner leg. I don't know how long it's been there and she's acting completely normal. I live in London so I don't know if theat could be harmful or not. What does this look like to you? Sorry for the mashed up post. I'm panicking

Spider bites are usually really nasty looking, single blister type bites. But then I live in Brazil so my view might be somewhat scewed. Take her to the doctor if you're concerned.

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 13:43

Okay definitely will. It just scared me a bit as I googled & got scared. There's no blister or raised skin.

Its just a spot isn't it? Are you in the uk? There are no poisonous spiders here. Unless she shows any other symptoms, I'd just put a bit of sudocrem on it then leave it.

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 13:52

Yes I am in London. She's acting fine, okay thank you I will.

I wouldn't be at all worried about that. If it's not bothering her I don't think you need to take her to the doctors.

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 13:56

Okay, that's reassuring. I will just keep an eye on her

People often think spider bite and panic. Even if it's a non-uk spider it's not always serious. I've been bitten by a spider and known a few people who have, including a baby. It looks horrific and hurts a lot, but other than that it's not something to overly worry about unless you're in Australia. I would put sudocrem on it and check it out if it starts to grow. And don't Google spider bites Grin

Are you in the uk? There are no poisonous spiders here.

Wrong, there are plenty of venomous spiders in the UK. I could provide a link but I don't want to scare OP any further.

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 14:00

I am going to following that advice, normally I google everything which doesn't help with my anxiety at all. Which I need to stop doing.

Oh, there are posionous ones in the U.K Shock. Gosh, I guess I'll just keep an eye on her, she's acting normally and it's not red or raised at all.

Yes there are poisonous spiders in the UK; but that doesnt look like a spider or insect bite. They are usually re and swollen.
They actually look like 2 verrucas or spots. You could show them to a HV or practice nurse, but they dont look to be anything to worry about.

I hope that reassures you Smile

JennyOnAPlate · 20/05/2017 14:04

That doesn't look anywhere near angry or swollen enough to be a bit op. Honestly don't worry Flowers

JennyOnAPlate · 20/05/2017 14:05

*bite not bit!

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 14:06

Thank you everyone. I will show them to my health visitor as I am seeing her Monday.

Feel so much better,I'm glad I posted. Knew I would have drove myself mad otherwise

All spiders have venom, so all spiders are venomous. But the venom is harmless, other than occasionally causing discomfort and blistering. So there are no "poisonous" spiders in the UK because they don't cause death or illness. We have tarantulas the size of tennis balls that sometimes fall in and get stuck in our pool. They're venomous but not poisonous. So yep, no need to scare anyone.

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 14:13

Oh wow, I didn't know that

CakeNinja · 20/05/2017 15:13

I'm suspecting this was just a stealth boast to show off such lovely squishy baby legs Grin

SashaSays · 20/05/2017 15:59

Aha Grin I wish lol!
