He once said "you have to be wealthy to be great" which of course eliminates a lot of Americans. When he talks about himself, it's all based on money, his success, how much he's made 'the billionaire Donald Trump'. He has no other way of judging himself

He talks of the Wall and making Mexico pay for it (money again) and he's now reduced foreign policy to money. He might want 'world peace' and think he's going to sort that, but arms deals, donations and $$$ is really what it's all about. He wants to be closer to Saudi to extract money from them, they've pledged to fund his infrastructure plans. No talk of human rights in Saudi... no money in that...

I am not sure how his base will take all this (I try to avoid their watering holes as much as possible). The hellfire dimension to his speech was probably, in part, an attempt to appeal to the right-wing Evangelicals.

I don't think 'religious pluralism' is their bag.

If the appeal depends on the $$$$ then the contracts will have to survive some close scrunity and the fact that he said, in his muddle, that he had helped the Saudis achieve the best deal with US companies. Not so much 'America First' after all.

I think that's much the easiest way out - much simpler than impeachment.

As has already been pointed out, he kept attacking Hillary for lacking the stamina necessary to do the job. It's yet another uncanny example of the way that every attack on her was based on his own flaws - inexperienced, underqualified, corrupt, in the pocket of big business etc.

This is worrying - I completely understand the strength of feeling people have towards the GOP but resorting to violence is never good.

I'm going to need to digest all that.

I suspect Ivanka has been de facto POTUS for a while. Not 24 hours a day, maybe, but filling in significant gaps.

That also fits with the way 45 sheds stuff to Jared when he's bored and the wall isn't proving quick.

And elected political representatives being threatened with physical violence is also not OK.

When their political moves are threatening people's lives, I understand why those people threaten personal violence back. But it's not a good path for a country to find itself on.

And it all turns the temperature up - which is what disruptivists want.

It helps nothing and no-one, that's for sure.
