If you ordered breakfast in a naice stablishment and specifically asked for two grilled tomatoes would you expect two tomatoes cut in half and all four halves grilled, or one tomato cut in half and both halves grilled?

Nobody thinks "one tomato is actually a half", fgs! One serving is a half as standard.

I always think of the tomato in a hotel/restaurant breakfast as a garnish, there for the colour. I think the usual serving would be one half, so would be expecting two halves for your order.

Flogging. Op asked for two grilled tomatoes and most replies are that she should expect two halves.
So yes people are saying one tomato is a half.
It's bizarre.

You have too much time on your hands. If this "situation" causes you any thought at all. (Sorry Grin)

It's all semantics, sis Grin. Op asked for a double portion of tomato and that's what she got. Two single portions.
