DD is 19 and has Netflix. She is rewatching a TV series, is that the done thing now? How boring... You know what happens!? AIBU?

I've watched a few things more than once. The League of Gentlemen, Twin Peaks, Phoenix Nights, Spaced, The X Files, Father Ted, Tales of the Unexpected (how ironic)...

I've read lots of books more than once too. I obviously like familiarity.

OfaFrenchmind2 · 17/05/2017 20:55

Firefly for sure. I also like to watch the first season of a serie when it has arrived to at least 3-4 seasons (so not Firefly 😭). The characters are so new and shiny! I like Supernatural and the Flash for that.

Bellaposy · 17/05/2017 20:55

It depends what you watch. When you know it's going to end you pick up on little things you might have missed and can enjoy it episode by episode without rushing to the end. We're re-watching Mad Men at the moment and loving it.

Yukbuck · 17/05/2017 20:57

I love re watching things! I used to love skins as a teen and gossip girl or 90210. I've re watched the series of these before and it makes me reminisce and remember being a teen

Oxxies · 17/05/2017 20:57

@SylviaPoe Scream but the TV show version on Netflix.

I have a handful of 80s films I can watch over and over.

But I do tend to agree that not knowing what's going to happen is always the best way to watch anything.

I do get a bit Hmm when DH laughs when Del Boy falls through the bar every time. You know it's coming!

gabsdot · 17/05/2017 20:59

I'm currently re-watching Downtown Abbey. I'm enjoying it more the second time round.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 17/05/2017 21:00

I've watched Spaced over and over and Red Dwarf early series loads, before it went a bit crap.
Modern Family on Modbro (they have a channel) and it's on every day and I watch it/listen to it over and over (I do have a job, background noise)

bibbitybobbityyhat · 17/05/2017 21:03

I don't tend to re-watch or re-read things but I can absolutely understand why other people might want to do that.

So, in conclusion, yabu.

Nanny0gg · 17/05/2017 21:07

Hassled

Me too Hassled! Best series ever, ever!

I shall be bereft when they finally stop showing it!

I also re-read my favourite books. Remembering what happened is not the same as getting it fresh again.

Dangermouse80 · 17/05/2017 21:07

I used to like rewatching films. However now with kids and zero time! I struggle to watch something once. Never understood watching box sets over.

metalmum15 · 17/05/2017 21:08

Some things, like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, just get better each time you watch them. Ditto comedies like Red Dwarf and Alan Partridge. Dh and I laugh more each time we watch them, probably because we know what's coming up and how funny it is. He's watched the various Star Trek series like Voyager and Deep Space 9 so many times he can probably recite all the dialogue in his sleep.

AccioMerlot · 17/05/2017 21:14

Yeah, have rewatched red dwarf and west wing just for fun, as opposed to rewatching-to recap-for-new-series. Probably others as well.

Most rewatched is True Blood, I think. Some evenings I will just decide, season 2 tonight I reckon, though they're all great in different ways Grin But there may be an Eric Northman obsession bundled up in there....

Hisnamesblaine · 17/05/2017 21:16

Yes Suffolk I'm watching pride and predjuice with a cuppa and some turnocks teacakes as we speak............... could quote it line for line

glitterglitters · 17/05/2017 21:16

I'm rewatching the crown (though don't tell Dh because he'd be annoyed I watched it through without him Shock)

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 17/05/2017 21:16

I'm always rewatching things; you see more the second time around.

It's not a "new" thing.

CheeseQueen · 17/05/2017 21:17

I've seen every episode of Friends, Red Dwarf and Desperate Housewives approximately a trillion times and never get tired of watching them.
Could quote them all day long. Could I BE any more annoying?! Grin

Whiskwarrior · 17/05/2017 21:18

I've also watched The Office (both versions) multiple times.

There are comedies like Red Dwarf that I've watched so many times I can recite episodes more or less.

It's a good thing!

Figglesticks · 17/05/2017 21:19

Yanbu it irritates me when DP tries to insist that we rewatch breaking bad or anything we've already watched. I don't like rewatching it's just boring

stitchglitched · 17/05/2017 21:21

I rewatch things more than I watch new series! I rewatch The Wire at least once a year and I watch Law and Order all the time. I work my way through the seasons and then restart at the beginning again.

NoCapes · 17/05/2017 21:22

God I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen each episode of Friends
I've also watched Sex and the City a few times
Totally normal IMO
What is she ée watching OP?

elQuintoConyo · 17/05/2017 21:22

Have you seen X-Files? Once i got to the end I started all over again, on VHS- recorded off the telly Shock then I treated myself to the boxed set when I was pregnant. DS is 5yo, it's due another re-watch!

Trust. No. one.

TheRealLemonLyman · 17/05/2017 21:23

You ABVU get yourself to Mandyville! I watch The West Wing every year. I luffs Josh and President Bartlett and Toby, CJ, Leo, Donna... should I go on?

OverAndAbove · 17/05/2017 21:24

I'm currently rewatching Wolf Hall - I've read the books twice and studied the period in detail in my degree so none of it is exactly coming as a surprise, but I'm loving it!

TSSDNCOP · 17/05/2017 21:25

Clearly you've never watched the West Wing.
