to think over £1 for a small bottle of water is a complete rip off

I know ideally I should always bring water with me Smile
Sometimes I don't though and need to pick up a bottle. I don't mind paying up to £1 but I went in a Costa the other day and a small bottle of still water was £1.60 Shock

I don't think it is.

Tap water is perfectly safe to drink, and so bottle water where tap water is available is a luxury.

There is also the added environmental impact - cost and material to produce, transport and contributing to plastic pollution.

theresamustgo · 17/05/2017 14:31

i think it is a rip off, but I also think it should not be bought for environmental reasons....if only the money went to clearing up the plastic hell it creates.

cheesydoesit · 17/05/2017 14:32

Chardonnay is right and I usually bring my own but when I am caught short Superdrug does a bottle for 69p. Places like Costa will inevitably have a huge markup.

halcyondays · 17/05/2017 14:40

Don't but it in costa. Go to a supermarket or B and M or somewhere like that.

manueltowers · 17/05/2017 14:47

Unless your somewhere where it's dangerous to drink the tap water, bottled water is a waste of money regardless!

butterfly990 · 17/05/2017 16:32

I have asked before in Costa for a cup of water and they have not charged me.

Maybe i was lucky?

specialsubject · 17/05/2017 16:35

supermarkets charge about 30p if you forgot to bring your own.

you aren't seriously expecting cheap prices in coffee shops, are you?

angelcakerocks · 17/05/2017 17:24

I wasn't expecting it to be cheap in coffee shops specialsubject no, but not that much. I thought about £1 was average for those type of places (except airports where it's also a rip off)

I could have asked thanks butterfly although wasn't sitting in so it might have seemed a bit cheeky since I wasn't buying anything else.

You can buy bottled water very cheap in aldi, lidl, home and bargians (around 20p) or even in a normal convenience shop you can buy a bottle of water for around 55p, coffee shops are the worse place to go to for a bottle of water.
