To be pissed off with the queues for women's loos?

Aibu to get pissed off? This is an interesting article on womens loos vrs mens. I get quite irate about this. From getting off an aeroplane to see the huge queue at women's loos, same often at service stations, nightclubs, concerts. I was at a recent posh sporting event and it was bad enough going in that the women had a longer wait going through security but once inside going to the loo ended in a 20 minute wait whilst the men just walked in and out, glancing over at us as all the women just stood quietly. Now some venues are changing the women's loos to gender neutral so open to all but still keeping seperate loos with urinals for men which is making women queue even longer. Why do we just queue, say nothing and accept this? Is it just me that gets annoyed (mild) at this?

Beyond, we were in a service station accessible toilet at the weekend. We couldn't fit all 3 of us (ds needs 2 of us to support him being changed standing up) and his wheelchair in the cubicle. This was with removing the incontinence pad bin which was placed exactly where you would put a wheelchair.

I have a mooncup, i'd never wash it at the sinks in front of folk though if they keep pushing for gender neutral loos where women lose out as we'd have to share our already limited resource with men - then the threat of a bit of period blood might make men run for lives.

If dh and i go into separate loos I usually beat him out of the door

Actually thats worring me now...why is he slow Hmm

Anyhoo, queuing winds me up at well, if women take longer then there should be more womans toilets

Or do the proper unisex thing in some of the newer restaurants and shopping centres, appreciate thats a bit more difficult in old places

Yes there should be more women's loos, just a few extra cubicles would get so many more people through. Another hate are those doors where it's really hard to tell if it's engaged or not
Last year I saw the Manic Street Preachers at the Royal Albert Hall with a male friend-he had to queue for ages, us women barely had to wait.

This is one area where there is absolutely no progress. Modern venues are just as bad as older ones. The O2 is one of the worst. As you all say, most architects are men so don't consider women's needs. In most situations more visitors use the female toilets as children nearly always go with the woman, even if visiting with a male partner. Also the stupid door which has to be held open when in the queue. Why don't they always put in the walk straight in design.

I don't get what takes so long... I understand if they're changing their SanPro but if they're just having a wee, it shouldn't take more than 2-3 minutes!

I worked at a pub with a men's toilet with 2 cubicles and a trough, and a ladies with one toilet. When it was busy there was always a queue to the ladies. It wasn't a blokes pub, there was a very even gender split including a lot of families.

Why they didn't swap them I have no clue. Maybe they were worried men would pee on the seat if they were drunk and only given a toilet.

Violetcharlotte · 17/05/2017 18:45

I agree with you OP it's really annoying. It does take women longer to pee, but that's hardly our fault?! Plus we have periods to deal with, young children, etc.

Whoever designs toilets should take this into account and put in more women's loos.

Motorway service stations seem to get the balance right - I can only ever remember having to queue once at a services (our arrival coincided with five coach loads of mainly female visitors) - perhaps their model should be considered by other venues.

Race courses on ladies' days have been some of my worst queuing experiences! I always have a precautionary wee (even when I've only just been) if I see a quiet toilet at a busy venue.
