Right this has pissed me off since Friday. my friend is being unreasonable (( with diagrams ))

On Friday we were in a local cafe, there are two comfy sofas (( Exhibit A )) and we sat down around the same time as two older ladies. We sat chatting for around 10 minutes when a third lady turned up to meet the other two sat down (( exhibit B ))

She immediately started stripping around because there wasn't room for her to.sit down with her friends, glaring at me and my friend, shaking her head and tutting and making a big show.of grabbing a chair from across the room and bringing it over. Even her friends were visibally shocked at her rudeness. Had this not happened I'd have got up.when I clocked she was with the other 2 and moved but this behaviour just made me want to.grind my arse into.the sofa and wax lyrical about how comfy it was.

But what did my friend do when I was in the loo ?? She gathered our stuff together and moved to a smaller table AND gave the lady our free chocolates. Basically killed her with kindness 😑😑😑
(( exhibit C ))

Anyways, would I have been unreasonable to lie across the sofa and feed myself chocolate cake because of the ladies rudeness ??

Have HAD to read your Tale of Woe and examine your diagrams.
I would never speak to that friend again.

HappyFlappy · 16/05/2017 00:53

Hang on - did your friend poison the chocolates.

That would be a reasonable reaction.

LauderSyme · 16/05/2017 01:03

YANBU. It was the rude third lady who was BU.
Your friend was being very sweet but I would have been cross with her too, if I'd been you! That kind of bad behaviour should not be rewarded with utter capitulation Grin

emmyrose2000 · 16/05/2017 01:10

Is your friend always a doormat? She was ridiculous, and incredibly rude to you.

The old ladies' seating arrangements were their problem to solve. I would've just ignored them.

BridgetDarcy · 16/05/2017 01:14

Why did you have free chocolates?

IloveBanff · 16/05/2017 01:52

"She immediately started stripping around because there wasn't room"

No one else has queried this, so it's either dialect or a really obvious typo that has gone over my head, but what does "stripping around" mean?

BastardBloodAndSand · 16/05/2017 01:52

It was Thorntons cafe Bridget, you get 2 free.

And I'm glad it isn't just me who thinks tantrums shouldn't be rewarded regardless of age 😑😑😑

Your friend is not your friend, sofa twat should have been told to fuck right off.

KoalaDownUnder · 16/05/2017 02:12

PMSL@ 'diagrams'.

Fucking great thread. I don't care who was being unreasonable.

LauderSyme · 16/05/2017 03:01

Banff I think it's stropping around

yoursforthetalking · 16/05/2017 03:23

OMG I know this isn't the point of the thread but Thorntons have cafes? and you get 2 free chocolates there? Where? If it's near me btw I will hang out there a lot and if I see your three older ladies I will lick my chocolates and hand them over to them. Is that ok?

Btw that friend giving away your Thornton's chocolates? She's mental.

Plunkette · 16/05/2017 03:40

She gave away your chocolates????

ShockShockShockShockShockSadSadSadSadSadSadSad

I'm not sure I could recover from the betrayal.

melj1213 · 16/05/2017 03:45

lol yes, Yours There's loads of Thorntons cafes - here's a list of them all: www.thorntons.co.uk/about-us/cafe-Thorntons.html

And if you buy a drink they will always give you a free chocolate on the side, much like in many coffee shops you'll get a little biscuit or something with your coffee.

There's one in my town - it's a cafe on one side and the shop on the other - and they usually have a couple of different "featured" chocolates every week, so they'll let you choose from maybe two or three chocolate flavours/centres to sample with your coffee before you go and buy a whole box of them from the shop side before you leave

treaclesoda · 16/05/2017 03:50

Your diagrams are the best thing I've ever seen on mumsnet and I've been here a long time. Grin

I am of the opinion that all threads in AIBU need diagrams like this one. OP, you could have a good consulting business on the side, doing them for us.

AIBU to want the diagrams here on my Xmas cards this year?

sashh · 16/05/2017 03:58

Ah but you are missing something.

Third lady cannot bad mouth you now, can't complain about the youth of today and if she has an ounce of decency will be thinking about how badly she behaved and will be along any min now to add on to the things that make you cringe thread.

Deploycharitygoats · 16/05/2017 04:19

BastardBloodAndSand for official MN artist Grin

Thorntons are pretty grim. Are you sure your friend wasn't punishing pitchfork lady by giving her even more? Unless you were having an "any chocolate in a storm" day, then SWDBU.

BoomBoomsCousin · 16/05/2017 05:13

Your OP is the thing of beauty and you cannot possibly BU!

You will just have to send your friend out for extra chocs now so you can practice with her at home for any future, similar scenarios. So she will be better able to stay strong in the face of future behaviour by people who she feels unable to treat appropriately because of a misdirected, undeserved sense of respect (or something).

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 16/05/2017 05:53

If you have chocolates on the saucer as you would a little biscuit don't they melt from the heat of the drink?

My dc would not like that place because they always get my biscuit but chocolate is gluten free!

WateryTart · 16/05/2017 05:57

YWBVVVVVU to give away your choc.

Nice diagram.

Phoebefromfriends · 16/05/2017 06:31

I'm not bothered about the drawings or moving tables I can't get over her giving away chocolates WTAF? Surely that's the real crime here, why would she wrecklessly give away chocolate? I couldn't trust her again after this.

MelaniaMacron · 16/05/2017 06:40

Fab diagrams. Wish I could draw so well
