The shard hotel in London?
Cost like a million pounds a night and the only highlight is you get to look at the most disgusting river ?

What a fuckin rip.
People will do anything to "keep up"

@SheSaidHeSaid in that case, can I just reiterate
HOW POOR THE SERVICE WAS. GrinGrin
For me, it's the Sanderson or the Mayfair (Ritz for a special occasion) none have a view but the service is exactly what you expect from a good hotel. Heh. (Stick that in your dodgy PR pipe, OP!)

flibberdy · 14/05/2017 11:37

Sorry my post should've been for @DumbledoresApprentice. Haven't had enough coffees today yet.

At the Shard the coffee would've arrived two hours late, cold and strangely looking like earl grey Smile

StressedMover · 14/05/2017 12:50

The Thames, disgusting? You clearly have seen very little!

hellokittymania · 14/05/2017 13:01

Forget the Shard! Go to the Marina Bay Sands instead! It is absolutely amazing! And it has a chocolate buffet. Grin

Poolet · 14/05/2017 13:04

Forget the Shard and get your husband to take you up the Oxo Tower instead Wink

SheSaidHeSaid · 14/05/2017 13:08

I love being taken up the oxo Grin

Lelloteddy · 14/05/2017 13:08

It's a long time since I've been taken up the Oxo Tower Sad

1bighappyfamily · 14/05/2017 13:12

We had dinner at the Shard (not at Hutong) for a special occasion recently. It was midweek and if we didn't live 20 mins from London Bridge would have strongly considered staying but I didn't want to waste a school night on it. We've stayed in lots of nice hotels, and I would like to stay there. Just can't get my head around it when we live so close. Have London based people done it and was it worth it?

Oh and YABVU Op. for all the reasons mentioned above.

hellokittymania · 14/05/2017 13:12

What is the oxo tower and where is it? Does it have chocolate? Grin

MsHooliesCardigan · 14/05/2017 13:13

Go to Guys hospital and get the lift to the top floor for free. DH and I went to a restaurant in The Shard for his 50th birthday. It was awesome.

Dafspunk · 14/05/2017 13:13

I also came on to say avoid Hutong - been taken there twice and dreadful in every way.

Love the Shard, champagne in one of the bars is a great experience, have done the champagne experience at the top of the Shard and dinner in the Shangrila hotel afterwards. What a treat, fantastic views of London. Was there at sunset into the night amazing.

Another great restaurant isCity Social at Level 42. Rear food, cocktails and an amazing view.

brasty · 14/05/2017 13:37

We had breakfast in The Shard. It was lovely, and not much more than a breakfast elsewhere. And we got a gorgeous view as well.

Siwdmae · 14/05/2017 13:53

Good view from the loos.

They have changed breakfast since we went there. It is now a £29 set menu. When we went it was about £16 for a gorgeous cooked breakfast.
