To really want a Fiat 500L?

I'm looking at changing my car. Basic requirements are 5 doors, enough boot space for a pushchair and to be as economic/reliable as possible. I've just seen the Fiat 500L and think it would be a nice change from a boring looking car. AIBU to want to buy one just because they're so cute? I realise they're a bit like marmite, so they're probably not everyone's idea of cute.

Does anyone drive one? I'd appreciate any good/bad things anyone has to help with the decision. Thanks Smile

Reviving an old thread for anyone interested

I absolutely love this car! I can't say enough about it. I have the Trekking model and it is excellent.

I can fit three booster seats across the back and can switch off the passenger airbag to seat another child, carrying four children.. easy!

The backseat is actually higher than the front seats and the children love being able to see out the windscreen. The back windows are tinted so no need for sun shades. A huge boot, with no loading lip. It has a lovely panoramic sunroof. Easy to park, cheap to run, very spacious inside, super fun all round.

I adored my fiat 500x bought out of the showroom in 2016. We had a pattern i have never seen since so it was always recognisable and it was so very comfy to drive.
However, I wish it didn't need as many electrical issue fixing which resulted in us getting rid of by jan 2020.
Buttons, radio, lights, stop start, handbrake, etc etc. And they didn't jist get fixed once- it was 3 or 4 times for some items. If they were more reliable I would have one again in a heatbeat, but it wasn't worth the cost of upkeep.

Don't get one.

Drove one as a hire car in Italy a few years back and really liked it.

Oh shit - it probably was in 2017 😂

Oh no! That's horrible, sorry you had such a terrible time with the 500X, a real shame as its such a cute looking car, I really like them. Disappointed to hear they're unreliable. Just saw recently they're launching a convertible 500x this year and it looks so nice

What was the space like in the back seat? Did you use a child seat?

Ugly, unreliable overpriced cars. But your choice
