Lived here for the past 13 years, lovely ground floor 1 bed flat on a lovely street, had my son last year so eventually when all my points were sorted out we bid on a 2 bed house never thinking we'd be anywhere near the top of the list but we are, it's all been taking forever and we still haven't viewed it yet, council inspector man came and took some pictures and said we passed last week and that he couldn't tell me the door number but it's the house with the workmen going in and out of it, so of course we went to look, it looks massive!! Problem we have is we go away in June for a couple of weeks and I told the inspector man that's why I rang last week but didn't get to speak to the housing officer, asked him what's the likelihood of it being ready soon as we go away soon as otherwise we can't move til we get back, he said he's going to send some emails and get back to me, I suppose my question is how quickly can a single mum with a 6 month old baby pack up a 1 bed flat?? I'm scared it's all going to be a major rush before we go away and the new house will be left in chaos, so much to do and not alot of time and no answers as yet again no one's phoned me either!!

Moving is hard work but will the new house be a great home for you and your son? If it is a good place to live it is worth all the work to make a home for him

Thanks the last time I moved was from my parents to here, with just a bed wardrobe, TV and leather reclining chair and that was it, now just place is full with 13 years worth of stuff and all the baby's things too

I would start packing now the things you do not need for the next month or so. I would then have a safe place for important documents & paperwork so you can change addresses etc easily. It took me a long time (3-4 months, a box or so every day) to pack up a house we had lived in for 22 years. When we moved in it was just me and him. When we left, it was me, him, 3 adult kids, 2 cats and a dog and seventy billion voxes Grin
I hope it goes well, and you settle into your new house very quickly!

Ahh thanks me too can't wait to move but it feels like there's so much to do, will get started this week as I know some people who have some moving boxes as they've recently moved

Start now by being ruthless and binning EVERYTHING you don't need! It will make things so much easier when the time comes.
