..to not make the most of today?

I have an extra day off work today as TOIL. I feel like it should not be wasted but just can't be arsed. WIBU to drive down and see the new Banksy in town, have lunch in a cafe, then spend the rest of the day on the sofa and pretend that I have really made the most of the day?

Sounds like the perfect day. I'd probably just laze around watching films, having naps and drinking endless cups of tea! Brew

SheSparkles · 08/05/2017 11:45

That's a day off well spent in my book!

Fruitcorner123 · 08/05/2017 11:47

"time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time" sounds like a lovely day off to me

SaucyJack · 08/05/2017 11:48

Dear Lord. I think I've made the most of the day if I've put clean briefs on.

Sounds lovely! Enjoy x

Trills · 08/05/2017 11:48

I have a day off today and I am watching Netflix and making a curry.

Going anywhere in a car counts as "doing something", surely?

StoatofDisarray · 08/05/2017 11:48

YWBY to go and look at a Banksy!

It's your time, you earned it, and time spent doing nothing much with just yourself for company counts as self-care, afaic. I hope you have a lovely, lazy day.

EdwardElric · 08/05/2017 11:49

Well, with the mn seal of approval, my day is sorted Grin
I think i suffer from growing up with my dad who believed that a day was wasted if you weren't doing stuff non-stop from 8am to at least 8pm.

Own it though, decide it's your plan for the day and stick to it otherwise, I find, I spend all day thinking what I should be doing and feeling guilty.
Your plan sounds awesome.

Trills · 08/05/2017 11:51

If you were to spend the day thinking "I should go somewhere" but instead faff around, watch daytime TV that you're not really interested in, and do a few chores that don't really need doing and then decide it's too late to do anything, that would be wasting the day.

If you were to say "I don't need to go out so I won't", spend the day watching TV that you had deliberately chosen and enjoyed, that would not be wasting the day.

Chavelita · 08/05/2017 11:51

Go for it. People who bore on about Making the Most of It are usually the same people who scream on about Enjoying Every Second of having a baby, just when you're ready to abandon it on a doorstep and run away to sea.

MrsMonkeyBear · 08/05/2017 12:07

That sounds like a plan. I'm on a day off today and see getting myself and dd dressed and to the park by 10am a bonus.

LadyPW · 08/05/2017 12:37

It doesn't count as wasted if your to-do list includes watching x episodes of y while stretched out on the sofa or reading half a dozen books or whatever. Grin At the end of your lazy day you'll be able to say that you achieved all these tasks that you'd set yourself!

EdwardElric · 08/05/2017 12:41

That doesn't sound like a wasted day at all!

offblackeggshell · 08/05/2017 12:43

Yey! I saw it in the paper this morning - a good one I think! You've made a good call. Enjoy the rest of your day.
