To ask about heavy bleeding

Posting for traffic.

I had a normal period 2 weeks ago. Took the MAP a week ago. Started another period on the day I should ovulate. I've put it down to the MAP.

My partner mentioned to me this evening that this morning there was a lot of blood in his bed (I was surprised as my tampon hadn't. Erm bad, had been in for several hours and could have stood at least a couple more)

We had sex and now I'm bleeding extremely heavily - have been for the past hour. Gushing on and off and passing clots.

Could the MAP have caused this? I've never had this heavy before, not even post partum.

I'm not sure if I should be worried

Could I have a clot stuck that is being 'disturbed'?

I don't know about the effects of the MAP but there was a thread like this a while back and the OP ended up in hospital. You should get medical advice ASAP. Are you bleeding through a pad in a hour?

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 06/05/2017 22:21

I bled through 2 in the past hour - it's calmed down again now...

See your GP asap. This is in no way normal. I have really heavy bed staining periods but 4 weekly. Even then I'm severely anemic. At the very least you need a smear test and a blood work up

isthistoonosy · 06/05/2017 22:22

Is it more than a pad or tampon an hour you need to go to hospital.
I dont think map causes random bleeding, could it be a miss carridge?

PeaFaceMcgee · 06/05/2017 22:23

Please call 111 immediately x

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 06/05/2017 22:23

Not a chance of MC - took the MAP on day 8 and I'm only on day 15 of a 25 day average cycle

It doesn't matter right now what caused it, just get it seem to as gushing isn't normal.

EllieFredrickson · 06/05/2017 22:24

Medical advice now. Give 111 a call for an out of hours referral/ discussion but don't be surprised if they suggest A&E.

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 06/05/2017 22:25

I feel ok right now and it's calmed down but I agree this isn't normal. On days 2 and 3 of my period I can go through a super tampon every 2-3 hours.

It's the extreme amount of blood (coupled with tampons that would indicate the opposite) after sex that's worrying me

Please call 111 for advice, as it could re-start. Several posters on MN have been through this and went to a&e.

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 06/05/2017 22:41

Ok. I called 111 - I''m awaiting a call back

Daydream007 · 06/05/2017 22:41

You need medical advice ASAP. That isn't normal.

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 06/05/2017 23:02

I think IM ok. Yes, I need to see my GP because it's out of the ordinary but it's all calmed right down for now

Heirhelp · 06/05/2017 23:09

That is a huge amount of blood. I am glad you have called 111 as you do need medical help.

DoIDontIhavethetalk · 07/05/2017 12:08

I was checked over by the gynae unit - if it all starts again I need to come back. Steady light flow since around 12:30 last night when I had one final gush that dripped through everything (I'm going to have to clean the carpet).

God knows what caused it. I expect to be discharged in the next couple of hours.

Glad you've been checked and it's settled down.
